Bought my car with 45k and it was barely noticeable. It got progressively worse until they were replaced at 93k. I dealt with that terrible noise for wayyyyy too long!
I would urge people not to just call their SA and see if it is covered; as others have done, let them hear it! Because it has obviously become a "discretionary" fix, you are much harder to deny in person... |

Definitely get it looked at if you have a obnoxious rattle when decelerating or reving the engine.
If it is serious, they will replace your turbos, in addition to the WG. They are replacing both turbo's and WG's on mine right now! The bad news is the turbos are on back order so prepare to wait a few weeks. |

I don't think the turbo bearings were failing, but the wastegate flappers which are part of the turbo exhaust housings were failing. In this case the turbos are replaced.

Taking my 335i in next week to have dropped off for wastegate replacement. I also told them to change the fuel pump as well.
I have a procede and will have to take it off as I dont want to take any chances... Will post my review/thoughts after the work is done.

No, was at a new dealer & I usually pick 1 specific SA (usually a younger guy who probably is on the forums) and have him be "my guy" in the Service Dept. We were shooting the shit & I was being straight up with him talking about my mods. So naturally me having DPs came up & I wanted to confirm that it wouldn't void the Extended Turbo Warranty

I'm out in PA for a job, it was Devon Hill BMW. I usually go to Morristown BMW while I'm home, it's the closest dealer & some of the best people I've worked with. Their SA's are great guys & they've gone out of their way to do things right by me

The main things they look for (from my experience) is dp and charge pipes. Intakes are subjectable but those are easy to take back to stock so why not. I could have got mines replaced if I would have kept my stock charge pipe .
