Am I likely experiencing the normal behavior of RFT's or could this be an unbalanced tire or a cracked rim? I'm going to call my dealer but wanted some opinions here first. Thanks in advance.
Might be a tire problem (cracked rims in my case happened on the very light alloy wheel oem style 296, not only to my wheels also to others). Have a tire shop or the dealer check your wheel and tire.

Slime would clog up your TPMS and makes a mess of the wheel
Our E9x cars do not have TPMS and slime just washes off the rim/tire. You can pick up a kit that comes with a small compressor which fits in the under trunk storage spot.

I'm not sure if people don't buy RFT because of the ride quality. Sure it's stiffer, but damn, they are a lot more expensive that what they are worth. The cost is directly proportional to amount of fear the buyer has of getting stranded.

All modern cars are required to have TPMS.

They do in the US.

Canadian e9x models don't have "regular" TPMS, they use the ABS sensors to measure rotation speed thereby extracting pressure (change in speed=change in size=change in pressure)

Though I'm not sure how that works with a run-flat.

Guys, there are NO TPMS sensors in E9x cars wheels or rims

Please read the owners manual, page 65

There are no 'in tire' sensors to clog or fail with slime or any other product.

Excerpt from owners manual:

Flat Tire Monitor FTM*

The concept

The Flat Tire Monitor monitors tire pressures while the car is being driven. The system reports any significant loss of pressure in one tire in relation to another. If a tire loses pressure, its rolling radius changes, and this in turn alters the speed of rotation. This change is detected and is reported as a flat tire.

IIRC the 2006 models used the "relative to each other based on rotation/ABS" system, but later models actually did have sensors in the wheel that measured the PSI directly.

Has anyone driven a few thousand miles on these new RFTs yet? Can you comment on the wear and noise levels?

Cars purchased from Canada with rubber valve stems do not have TPMS sensors.

Those with OE metal valve stems (yes, even when purchased from Canada) do have TPMS sensors.
