+1 for Rocco at RMP.
Went to Bimmersport once as it's close to my office with my old E36 for a front hub bearing change. They were not happy from the get-go as I had brought my own part (I told them on the phone before taking it in) then after having the car for the whole day changed the wrong side and proceeded to tell me that I told them what side to replace (which I did not as I didnt even know). |

Kosta at KTM
I agree with Gunda!
I recently took my E90 to Kosta at http://www.ktmmotorworks.com/ I was told by the stealership that I need to service: 1) Real differential 2) Coolant service Kosta checked and explained to my that my car need not at this point. Everything looks fine and my mileage is still 75k only. I am newbie with a BMW. And Kosta took the time to assess, explain and not charge me a dime! I believe this type of customer appreciation only comes from solid experience. And he's pricing is definitely better than others. Quote:

I've had minor work done by Rocco and Ivo and was happy with both.
My old boss used to take his 2 BMWs and Ferrari Daytona to Rocco and he was the most picky guy with a fat wallet, so that says something. |

I have a buddy who wants to install M3 paddle shifters to a new performance wheel. He already has a sports wheel to swap his airbag out of and the retrofit harness kit.
Can Ivo at Columbus Auto do this? If not, any other recommendations? |

Let's not forget the efficiency and fast service.
I think RMP tops the list when in comes to that among other things. I been to RMP many times, and I don't think I have ever waited there for more than an hour for my work to be done. Usually all work is done within an hour to an hour and a half and done right. There are many shops that are trying to establish their name, but you need to account all factors (knowledge, efficiency, customer service,...) in order to say who's best. Good luck to all, as it is always good to have a few back ups. |

Honestly it scares me when you talk about simple coding (like actual speed and display speed) and they look at you and say "BMW's have always had the correct speed problem" ... I just look at them and say "your telling me an advance auto manufacture cant get the correct speed on their speedo but every other brand can?" and there response was "Its a BMW thing and cant be fixed with coding"... I wish I recorded this because this is unacceptable.
I know there's a Bazzillion great BMW dealer mechanics out there and I'm only using a few bad apples but when your company is charging top dollar, you expect to get the best, and thats just not how it is, especially when you have mechanics like RMP, Columbus, Bimmex, BMWizard that I would trust more even if the dollar was the same to fix. Anyhoo that's my rant for the day B |

Oh I'd thought i'd share another story with you guys. In 2008 when my mother bought her first e90 (our first BMW veh in the family) the sales and mechanics came to greet us and I mentioned since it was a new car she should get an oil change after 4000-6000 kms just to make sure no metal particles, etc. (I know some people think its a myth but I've always done it) and the guys laughed and said this is not your Saturn out there (I had a 2008 Saturn (Opel) Astra, designed and made in Germany BTW) and I started to explain that small particles could still be floating around in the engine no matter what new car you buy.
Anyhoo it was a fight but they finally allowed us to get it done (I wasn't expecting it for free...I told them I would pay but its almost like they were not letting me do it lol) Then later on my mom always did her oil changes at 10,000km and same thing, these guys would loose their mind saying that this is the ultimate driving machine and I was an idiot. I know BMW makes a pretty good engine...but they don't make the oil, and oil hasnt changed that much in the last few years to have these vehicles go without an oil change for 25,000kms. These were sales reps and Mechanics that were always telling me this. Heck even when we first looked at the car, not one sales guy got up from his chair to help us, the new guy that had his hands full of coffees that was opening the door as we were leaving (pissed off), asked us if we needed help...long story short, we purchased the car the same day off him. When I purchased my 2 BMW's, I didn't even look at that dealership. End of second rant B |
