New Vorsteiner CF Hood - Custom Paint Job
First off I want to say Thank you to Vorsteiner. I had a plastic hood from them for about 3 years and it started to crack almost right away. After the 2nd year it got really bad, but they were not able to replace it. Finally this year after the cracks got really bad, they were able to replace the hood for me.
I needed to pay the upgrade price from the plastic Hood to the single sided CF Hood. Free shipping and no taxes so not too bad. The first hood was broken in shipping , but finally i got the new one. After going to a local auto body place i know, they were able to do a custom paint job for me. They didnt do it exactly right, but i'll post that up next. Here are the pics of how they painted the hood for me - The paint matches great and looks like glass!! |

Now, the issue is - they didnt paint it the way i wanted it too. THey said they can strip off the clear and paint and re-paint it, but i'm not sure if i should go through the hassle. They left the bulge exposed mostly with CF, but i wanted to leave a lot more exposed.
Big QUestion - do i have they re-paint it the way i want, or do i leave it? This is what i wanted it to look like. |

Marc, here is a pic of the "hump" with the fade you are looking for (I think?)
I got a closed-vent VRS hood and filled the vents. The guy I used didn't get the fade very symmetrical, but then other than the shop I used, I don't know any that can do what I want in my area, but there are some spots that were not done very well on mine Not the best pic, car has been dirty...

if they are offering to fix it for free, do it over. it looks great, but if you wanted it a certain way, you better get it that way haha. i understand all the hassle can make you settle easily, but you don't want to have any regrets when its too late.

that looks great. i dont think you should bother re-painting it. it looks great as it is right now. they might screw up the carbon if they try to strip off the paint and re paint it.

i'd leave it as is...i think it looks good. not much difference in how they painted it and what you're requesting. i think you run the risk of screwing the hood up if stripped and resprayed...just my .02.

Looks great marc!!!! As for repainting it - I think it looks great, BUT if you wanted it a different way, i would get it redone! Whatever you decide, I know it will look good!

Looks good - don't let them do anything else. Walk away while you are ahead.
