JB4 doesn't solve it, you have to buy the DP fix separate even with JB4.
You have code clearing on the JB4, but that doesn't get your emissions value set correctly, all of the major tunes need to use the BMS DP Fix for $80 to get catless (and in some hi-flo cat DPs) to properly register for emissions.

I thought it was built-in b/c I was told I wouldn't need my wired one anymore for that reason.

From BMS site:
"Now shipping with JB4 featuring 5x the processing power, 2x the memory, more robust signal conditioning, and integrated CANbus. Our new CANbus module allows the JB4 to communicate with your vehicle like never before. New features include code reading/deleting, optional in dash boost, timing, air/fuel, shift light, and IAT gauges, autotuning, a buttery smooth new CANbus based integrated boost control system, map switching on the fly via steering wheel controls, built in downpipe fix, hot/cold oil temperature protection, progressive methanol integration, water pump remapping, gear dependent boost control/traction assist, and much more to come with free firmware updates uploaded using a windows laptop (or mac w/ windows emulator) and BMS USB cable."

From the DP fix description that sells for $80:
"Installs in the ECU area and is compatible with all BMW tunes and chips.....The JB4 tuning system includes this functionality built in so a DPFIX is not required if you are already running a JB4 Performance Tuner!"

Ha! Based on what I pulled off the site, no. However, you can always email Terry @ BMS and ask him for sure. He's pretty good w/responding.

If your trying to pass emissions make sure your dps are catted. Why would you try to pass emmissions with cattless dps.lol
With the Jb4 you dont need the dp fix, its built into the tune just turn on the auto code delete.
Do not try to IM with catless dps.

I could be wrong but I think as long as you have the downpipe fix you do not have to remove them for inspection. It differs in other states but in NC they don't actually test the gas coming out of the pipe only what the computer is registering.

After some more reading I think I need to clarify my statement. Per a discussion like this (http://forums.n54tech.com/showthread.php?t=15000) it sounds like the JB4 uses autoclear to allow someone to run DPs without any CEL's. However, when taking your car in for inspection you have to completely disable the JB4 (map0) which also means disabling the autoclear functionality. So it sounds like to pass emissions you will need the separate DPFix installed on top of the JB4 since it will run even if your JB4 is on map0. If anybody is reading that differently let me know. It's tough because Terry cannot simply come out and tell people how to illegally pass inspection

Ok, so now I'm back to being slightly confused (lol). I have a JB3 w/a wired-in DP fix. I recently had my inspection done and passed. And, if I'm not mistaken, I didn't map it off (0). I have a scanner so I made sure I cleared any codes I was able to pick up w/it (which I didn't have any at the time).

Now I'm wondering about upgrading to JB4 if my current DP fix will work w/it instead of me having to buy another. Hmmm.....TERRY!!! lol

I just threw the question up over on n54tech to see what they'll say. My question is if my current (non-adjustable) wired-in DP fix will work w/the JB4 or if I, too, will need the new adjustable one. I now understand the reason for needing the additional fix. Also, I can't remember if I mapped mine off for my last inspection. If I didn't, then nothing was detected b/c I passed.

So, the answer for if you "need" the additional DP fix seems to be yes, in order to map off the tune but still have coverage for the missing cats. I guess it all goes back to what state you're in and how they inspect the cars. Mine just plugged up to the OBD and kept going. Should be interesting to see what happens the next time, since I've had my mufflers deleted. (??)

My main concern is mufflers if they lift it up and see no cat or something and void warranty

Unless you're going straight pipes, then you'll still have your 2nd cats (which I do as well). I don't ever recall having any of my cars lifted to inspect underneath, but I don't know what will happen for my next inspection, since I now do not have mufflers. I would "assume" as long as you're not throwing any codes you should otherwise be fine. Also, it helps to form relationships with garages that do inspections.
