19's Rim Offset on an e92 - PLEASE HELP!

Hey everyone,

So basically I'm planning on getting some rims, and I'm really liking the Beyern Mesh's in Black w/ a polished lip. Yes I know it's played out but I've always wanted that style so I'm gonna grab it for atleast a year or two.

Ok, now onto business..

They have a bunch of different offset's and I didn't know which one would fit the best, so I thought I'd post it up here and see if I could get some help.

Possible Rims:
  • 19 X 8.5 w/ 15 Et & 72 Bore
  • 19 X 8.5 w/ 15 Et & 74 Bore
  • 19 X 8.5 w/ 30 Et & 72 Bore
  • 19 X 8.5 w/ 40 Et & 72 Bore
  • 19 X 9.5 w/ 15 Et & 72 Bore
  • 19 X 9.5 w/ 25 Et & 74 Bore
  • 19 X 9.5 w/ 30 Et & 72 Bore
  • 19 X 9.5 w/ 45 Et & 72 Bore
Sidenotes:
I'm going to be dropping the front about an inch and the rear half an inch (on C/O's so I can adjust later on).
I want to run a staggered set-up, so the 8.5's in the front, and 9.5's in the rear.
I do not want to roll my fender.

PS. What the hell is the bore for? Excuse my n00b-ness. lol

Thanks alot in advance guys!

- Rohit

BTW I'm thinking right now I should go with this:

19 X 8.5 w/ 40 Et & 72 Bore
19 X 9.5 w/ 45 Et & 72 Bore

But I just need some confirmations so I don't order the wrong shyt. lol

What about in the front?

I don't mind running spacers to flush it out if I need to. Not sure if that'll make a difference though.

And be careful asking the "Experts" here, or listening to anyone who states things as blind fact.

Lots of folks here have some pretty screwed up ideas about what is and isn't perfect or acceptable. For some "rubbing" here and there is no big deal, for others, it means that you've failed miserably and turned a perfectly good car into a useless pile of ghetto shit and they should have it taken away and given the civic they deserve.

So, yeah best bet is to be really careful who you take advice from when it comes to which tires/wheels/offset works best.

Oh and FWIW

I had DPE GT7s. 19X9" Front 19X10" Rear. 35 offset all around. No rubbing, no issues at all.

Tires were:
F: 235/35ZR-19 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
R:265/30ZR-19 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3

30-35 in the rear is fine. It also depends on the tire size for the rear. et 35 in the front is fine as well. dont go et40 or et45....looks stupid.

Hope this helps.

* 19 X 8.5 w/ 15 Et & 72 Bore
  • - WILL NOT WORK. Recommended fitment for 5, 6 and 7 series.
* 19 X 8.5 w/ 15 Et & 74 Bore
  • - WILL NOT WORK. Required fitment for E39 5 series.
* 19 X 8.5 w/ 30 Et & 72 Bore
  • - Will work. I believe Beyern recommends this offset for the E9x chassis.
* 19 X 8.5 w/ 40 Et & 72 Bore
  • - Will work but you might find it sits in a little bit. It was a better recommended fitment for the E46.
* 19 X 9.5 w/ 15 Et & 72 Bore
  • - WILL NOT WORK. Recommended for use on the 5, 6 and 7 series.
* 19 X 9.5 w/ 25 Et & 74 Bore
  • - EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE FITMENT AND NOT RECOMMENDED. Recommended fitment for the E46 M3 and E39 5 series rear wheel and will require a hub ring to make the wheel hubcentric (our cars are a 72 center bore).
* 19 X 9.5 w/ 30 Et & 72 Bore
  • - Will fit, but may have some minor rubbing issues with some 265/30 tires out there, even on factory suspension.
* 19 X 9.5 w/ 45 Et & 72 Bore
  • - Will work but you may find that it sits in quite a bit and you can use a 10 to 15mm spacer to make it sit more flush with your rear fender. The spacer size will be determined by the tire size and brand you go with. This offset was recommended for the E46 non-M chassis.

Rohit,

The ET30 front might be a bit aggressive for your car, I would stick with the ET40. The rears look fine to me but they will sit in on the fender so you will want to run a 12mm rear spacer.

Thanks Nick!

I don't mind running spacers to make 'em sit as flush as possible. I'm already running some on the stockies.

I don't suppose you sell the Mesh's by any chance, do you?

I wish that people would state their wheel widths when they say I have +xx offset on the front and +xx on the rear since offsets change depending upon the width of the wheel.

BTW, on a 19x9.5 wheel you can run either the +30 or even the +25 with a 265/30/19 IF you are willing to roll your rear fenders. I think its a good trade off since rolling them will only take you an hour or so if you take your time and you will have a better looking wheel (ie. more lip) and you won't need a ridiculously sized spacer on a new set of wheels that should fit right from the start. I'm running a 19x10 +35, which is very close to, if not slightly more aggressive, than a 19x9.5 +25 with a 265 and its dropped pretty low with no rubbing.

Also, I have 19x8.5 +40 in the front and if you like a flush look then you will need to run a spacer since it sits in the fender slightly.

How hard is it to roll your fender. I've heard many talks of this before, but never really looked into it. To be honest though, I rather just run spacers and be safe than sorry. Would +40 in the front and +45 in the rear be a little too conservative? I'm dropped about an inch or so all around on C/O's.

No problem at all.

Fender rolling is not hard at all. You just need a heat gun, a fender roller, and some patience. Just keep applying heat to the fender while you roll it with a fender roller and slowly apply more pressure to the fender as you roll it over time. Here is a link to a DIY that describes the process, but it is very simple once you have the tool...

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...der+roller+DIY

I think that those rear offsets are too conservative for my taste. I realize that there is no ideal fitment for the wheels that you are looking to get, but if you are dead set on getting them than I would rather spend a little bit of time and money to roll the rear fenders and fit the +30's instead of using a huge spacer. I'm not a fan of using spacers since I have seen them crack in the past and I just don't like them. A lot of people run them with no problems, but I would rather just fit a slightly more aggressive wheel from the start. BTW, we are talking about a 3mm difference here if you go with the +45's and a 12mm spacer and the +30's so its not like you would have to do extreme fender modifications here. You would just need to roll the rears slightly to prevent any rubbing at all, and you would get deeper dish lip form the +30's. Just my opinion though.

Hmmm. Well If I do decide to go ahead and roll the rear fenders, do you know if I would need to do any work on the front if I go with the +30 offset in the front?

I figure it's all or nothing ye know? Like I either don't touch any fender, or I roll all of them lol.. I must say though, I'd love an aggresive stance. I think I'm just a little bit too shyt to make it happen.

Do shops roll fenders too, or is this like an underground kinda practise?

Yes, any reputable tuner shop should be able to roll your rear fenders for ~$100. You can't roll the front fenders though since they are plastic.

I think that the +30's on the front (8.5" rim) with 235/35/19's should be fine. They are aggressive and should sit flush, but I don't think you should have any clearance problems with them since a lot of people run that size. With that said, I like to speak from experience and my own front wheels are NOT that aggressive (although I would like them to be) so I can't say with 100% assurance, so I'll let someone else confirm this. I am willing to bet that they are fine though.
