Guys what is the best website to find a used e9X 335 in USA? I know in Canada it's either kijiji or autotrader (probably 99% of cars are sold on these 2 websites)

Another question: what is the most common e9X 335 on the market currently? Someone said it's a black or white 335xi e90 with Auto - is it really so?

Try www.autotrader.com and www.truecar.com. Good start.

most of the f30's new found efficiency should be credited to the 8 speed automatic. when comparing an N52 to an N20 both equipped with an 8 speed
(n52 f10 2011 vs 2012 n20) there is literally a 1-2 mpg difference between the two motors. if you dont know how to use the torque properly and spend alot of time at high revs (lots of people with turbo engines do this) your fuel economy will be awful compared to the n52. in real world driving, expect marginal differences which will be thrown away on replacing your turbo down the road anyways (if your timing chain doesnt grenade the engine first)

I can appreciate the n20's extra power, but that wont make me go back to a 4 cylinder ever again. you're pissing away exactly what made old BMW's so great..

For me a good sport car without a descent deep exhaust sound is a fake one, like Tesla. Unfortunately all those 4 cyl. turbo engines have vacuum appliance sound or farting sound at best. If I'll ever consider a new F or G series Bimmer it has to have a 6cyl (at least) and a descent exhaust to begin with. I don't care about MPGs at all. Also, and this is just my opinion I still think e9X M3 had a best ever created design that radiated masculine pure power and aggressiveness, lines and curves flow so nice that BMW wasn't able to recreate that image as of yet. F series look newer and more civilized, like any other modern Honda on the road, a lot is lost, no more dominating image, just a fancy toyota/honda alike...

Compare it to a new M3 ....imho something is lost, new one looks like a Honda 2018 lol

I think that sweet spot is to buy a 1.5 year old car with higher mileage (15-25K) and sell it at 3.5 years at lower mileage (30-35K)...this should provide you a good discount off new while allowing you to sell before the new model comes out (typically).

Thoughts?

I think it's a pretty standard loss in value. Maybe a little bit steeper than if it were a Honda or something less prone to needing repairs.

After the warranty is up it seems to me that BMW's are really only desirable to people willing to deal with the repairs. In general, people don't want to turn wrenches. Bad news for someone that wants to drive a relatively new bmw. Good news for someone that wants to buy one that's older and is willing to work on it.

I paid $18.5 for my 14k mile 2011 N52k 6mt sport, premium, convenience, nav, xenon, parking assist, heated seats/steering wheel at the end of September 2016. Only thing it doesn't have is satellite, HK, M sport and cold weather headlight washers. I did add the E92/3 M sport wheels though

I had been watching them and JUMPED on this as it was absolutely PERFECT, I got a BRAND NEW car for less than $20k, $20k when you count the Penske warranty I purchased for it

NOTHING for $20k give you the driving pleasure this E90 does

you can buy with higher miles & you can buy with less options for less, but the strong, good cars are holding their own as many people as not fans of the F series cars

Although I also like the E9X series M3's more than the new ones, you picked a pretty unforgiving angle of the F80 M3. I like it from the back much better:

Nice! That is quite a car. Compare to anything you could by new for that price, or even half again, and they don't compare at all.
By the way, is that by chance the Coachella Valley? It looks familiar to me.

It's crazy how much the market drops with some used cars. I always wanted a 335 and when I found that I could pick up a pre-lci for under $15k I jumped on it quick. I just paid $11k for my E92 with 87k on it.

I think these are somewhat seasonal too. Prices tend to be more attractive in the winter.

Someone said that BMW isn't a Chevy, but if you drive a e9x 328i, the transmission is Chevy

Mine is a cpo that i had since 17k miles. I'm now at 115k miles and the car runs well. FBO since 45k miles and no warranty since end of 2014.

All i had to do was normal maintanence. Modded civics, i would believe are beat'n on rides... but ppl who get bimmers can usually maintain them. I do oil changes every 7500 miles or so and all service stuff usually at 1/2 the normal interval. My car has never left me stranded tho... but i did get a waterpump code 200 miles after getting a new one installed (proactively replacing a perfectly good original pump at 105k miles).

i have no doubt that my 335xi fbo will faithfully get me to 300k miles with only normal service required. I don't need the latest and greatest toy/gadget, so as long as it looks decent and runs dependably... i'm fine.

i do worry when my starter will fail tho cuz its not like i can bump start a 6AT every month that this car runs well, saves me one month of car payments is the way i look at it. If it lasts until my loaded 2018 tesla model 3 is ready... i'll be very happy

Oh no, you are going with Tesla 3? No sound, no chassis like e9x, no hydraulic steering, etc. Come on man, electric car is like a inflatable sex doll - it's like eating a veggie burger or drink non-alcohol beer. That's a first step into bland no joy life. Ok, it's a nice car I guess, I was partially kidding (but just partially)

I started down that bland path when i had my (now) almost 3 year old son. I have a top of the line 2015 sienna awd limited premium loaded. Can't really drive nice rides when you got kids.

Money now goes towards:
* Retirement funds to be maxed out
* stocks/investments
* Home purchases (rental homes for investments)
* kids education (now and for future)

last on that list is an awesome ride i even had to give up manual transmissions once i got married, wife can't/won't learn stick

I'm now about low key living and avoiding cops giving me tickets. Your not partially right... you are right. growing up and responsible is not as fun as my single days.

Don't know if your post is tongue in cheek, but if not...

328-AT = GM (although some are apparently ZF)
328-6MT = Getrag
335-AT = ZF
335-6MT = ZF

I guess my son must be months older than yours. I was pretty set on getting a M2 new, it seemed to be worth it. Then a coworker mentioned the crooked driver's seat, and suddenly I began to question not only if I should get the M2, but if I should be spending that much....in the end, I did not. But I still have the 335i, and I got a Lexus DD used. So I still feel that with a kid, we can still drive cars we like, we just have to be realistic and perhaps ratchet it back. Now I admit, I have never dabbled in your #3, and am lagging in #4. Let's face the math. When a baby is born, if you are saving and do not expect financial aid, then it should be $1800/mo. from the hospital ride home, THROUGH age 22. I am not comfortable with that number. Some would say, don't have a kid. I don't think it's that black/white.

Smart man!

I actually just got rid of a manual and picked up a 335i for a "family car", as we have a little one on the way.

Normally I would instantly start modding and changing things, but like you said, all money goes to childcare saving, investment etc.. Getting older definitely changes things, but the joy that children bring is more than worth it!

There will be time for project cars later in life.

Edit - regarding prices. I just picked up a Space Grey 2011 335i performance edition w/ 54k, for 17,999. I added a 3 year fidelity bumper to bumper warranty, so it came out to around 21k total. It has nav, premium pkg, sport package, performance pack etc..
