Asking in the right place this time....

My dealership just pitched me a 24-mo/24,000-mile extended warranty for my 2007 335i. The car currently has 63k miles on it, and I ran out of CPO warranty last month. It pretty much covers everything except for cosmetic stuff and regular maintenance items (battery, AC coolant, etc).

He's asking $2,750....good deal? Rip-off?

And, uh, <coughcoughJB4coughcough>...

Here are the prices given to me for Gold Extended. All prices

60M/70K Miles - 2959
60M/100k Miles - 3230
72M/70k Miles - 3454
72M/100k Miles - 3790
84M/70k Miles - 3890
84M/100k Miles - 4270

60M - adds one more year
72M - adds two more years
84M - adds three more years

Given that its MSRP, I'm guessing price should be negotiable. Ill talk to them about it.
I'm interested in at least adding 2 more years, but not at that cost.

As it is, if I were to pick the 72/70M (which would be what I would want given the time it would take me to get to that millage), its still be 1727 per year. The good thing is I already have the extended maintenance till 2015(thanks to the previous owner)

Only reason I'm considering adding extended warranty is because I don't have the time to fix the car if something were to happen.

For that cost you better off go with platinum plan instead of gold.

extended gold warranty didnt cover my last visit to the dealership.

bought the car in due to awd and dsc malfunction and start off assistance inactive warning light. dealer took the car in and clear the codes and reset the steering wheel angle sensor that's causing the problem and gave the car back to me.

to my surprise was that i was asked to pay for the services and labor instead of my 50 dollar extended warranty deductible. dealer claim its not covered under warranty if the parts thats causing the problem didn't need to be replaced.

2 days passes, the same warning light came back on. im gonna bring the car back to the dealer next week to get it check out again.

Just got a 7r/70k Gold from Passport BMW. I contacted 10 dealerships and got quotes from 7 of them. Passport BMW and Schaeffer BMW gave me the best quotes.

Jeff Steel at Passport. John Andrews at Schaeffer. Both are finance managers at their dealerships. I promised Jeff I wouldn't reveal his quote, but Schaeffer quoted me $2640.

I have a 2014 X3 28i, plan to keep it way beyond the factory warranty and was quoted $5170 for a platinum 7/100 warranty. Not gonna do that. Any guidance as to where to go to get better pricing would be great. Thanks.

GEICO can sell you something called mechanical breakdown warranty. which is supposed to be better than ext warranty, GEICO will not sell this for used cars, only for new and one year old, not sure about other terms and conditions.

DCU credit union also sells Mechanical breakdown insurance for their auto loan customers, they will this for used cars too. Google for Mechanical breakdown insturance.

Recently Prestige BMW, Ramsey NJ sold me CPO Free Maintenance for $2500, 84M/100K GOLD ext warranty for $2400 for 2011 X5

Let me know if I can help with pricing!
Im at BMW of Dallas and hope to help fellow members with prcing!

send vin # and current odometer to HongC@autonation.com

If you have a quote from a dealer, let me know and ill tell you if I can beat it!

I work with BMW Warrany/Maintenance, Protective/Mileage Plus, NAC, Easy Care.
Also, if your BMW is currently under CPO, you can add the WRAP coverage
-bumps CPO to GOLD or Platinum, could add another year of coverage.

Thanks!!

Question Any thoughts on Zurich extended warranty coverage

My local BMW dealer is actually recommending Zurich over the BMW EVP plans, saying it is cheaper and provides MORE coverage. Any thoughts?

whats best extended warranty/maintenance plan for bmw in the bay area? does it matter where i purchase my warranty from?
For example can i bring my car to my local dealerships even if i bought the warranty/maintenance plan from somewhere far away?

i am currently at 30k miles with only 20k/1 year left on my plan
