John R between 17 and 16 mile in Troy. The worst in Troy. Thank God they are doing construction now. Felt like car would fall apart even just driving 30MPH.

Hate to dig up this thread. OK its sept and they have "fixed" many of the roads this summer. But have you guys noticed that even when they pave roads around here, they still suck? Like they have waves and ripples in them right after they have been repaved. Does anyone know why this is? I swear it didn't used to be this way...

Lol! I'm thinking it's because the state is so broke. At MSU I would see construction on a new building start and finish in the time it takes the DOT to refab a small stretch of expressway.

Broke. Slow. Pure Michigan.

So I spent last weekend in Northern Michigan for the first time in a few years. I expected it to be a pothole dodging adventure. But it wasn't! With the exception of a few main through roads in the traverse city area, for the most part the roads were very good. Especially the twisty fun ones along lake michigan. I guess chalk it up to less traffic and less heavy trucks (despite worse winters).

I highly recommend M-22 (and 109) between say Luddington and the tip of the Leelanau peninsula. M-119 north of Harbor springs into cross village is great too. Just watch out for deer and wild turkeys.

There is still hope!

Lol I'm from SE Michigan born and raised and I know exactly what you guys are talking about...Its not just Michigan either, Toledo is pretty jacked up too. Its funny how they raise the tax on gas and cigs for the roads yet they are still broke...My first BMW, a 1997 328i I had for about a week and hit a pothole that looked like a manhole cover got removed (which is another story lol)...jacked my shit all up! It is just a never ending battle with them. Here in Charleston they do road construction on roads that are perfectly fine, in the middle of the night, around the time the drunk drivers are out n about. DOT is unreal...

Well I think finally I-94 east of Ann Arbor heading downtown Detroit is almost done. I drove down to watch the Tigers loose the World Series the other night and there was nary a pothole to be found. In/around Ann Arbor the roads are still a mess, however - despite having some of the highest taxes in the state. Funny how that works...

I wonder sometimes... I drive by all the truck weigh stations where they are supposed to charge trucks extra by weight to account for the increased damage they do to the roads. But there are never any trucks in there and it seems they are almost never open? What gives? Does that system even work? Frankly, I'd do toll roads if it meant better roads and buying less tires/wheels.

Be careful what you ask for. Don't put it past them to add tolls and still not fix the roads.

Glad they caught that highway shooter. I postponed travelling to the East side for a while. Crazy people out there.

I started this thread a while back and I haven't been on it in a long time so to answer your question, it depends what the warranty covers. Personally I would not.

This. I'm a student at UM and I'm so glad I didn't bring my e90 up here, it'd be a fucking nightmare (and that's putting it lightly, haha). Roads around Ann Arbor are just a mess nowadays, but sadly, I saw worse in Detroit a few weeks ago. Damn.

Ann Arbor can have the crap roads. They need them. Between the absent minded students and the pot holes it like a dynamic slalom or rally special stage. Now if they would actually fix I-75 north of 696.

Buddy of mine was visiting me a couple weeks ago and I took him to AA...I thought I was going to cry from the horrible roads around down town.
