I'm having a little trouble copying some of the files. I was able to copy the first two files using the commands you posted but when i try copying anything else i get the following error msg:

"c\" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"

I found a potential alternate link for downloading INPA 5.0.2:

http://bmwcoders.com/forum/1-post1.html

I will report back. OP, it seems as if Photobucket has torpedoed your screenshots!

Nevermind, I'm sure there's a way to do it using that download, but I'm not going to risk it (it doesn't have quite the same format).

I'll try to rehost OP's linked 5.0.2 if I can get it to download correctly. Looks like it's going to end up taking around a total of 8 hours with my download manager.

Alright, so for now I went ahead and created a PDF with all of the screenshots inline; it is attached.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what the best site might be to rehost the INPA 5.0.2 file? I can probably do that tonight.

Alright, thanks OP! Managed to code AUX into my wife's E61. I followed the instructions meticulously; I can confirm that these will work on a Boot Camp installation of x86 W7 SP1. I will look around and see about rehosting the 5.0.2 file.

So when I pull up INPA it can tell if my car has ignition and battery when I turn it on. However when I pull up the E90 option and click something like Communications systems and then "Display/ Central Information Display" I get No response from controlUnit

What's the procedure for being able to read/code other chassis too (ie. E39/E46/E60)? Do I just copy the IPO files from the downloaded SPDaten folder into \NCSExper\SGDAT\E39 + Daten files into \NCSEXPER\DATEN\E39 + PRG files into \EDIABAS\Ecu\E39 or is there something more to this?

Dude, awesome thread, thank you!

Just some ideas based on my experience with this process:
- Post up the CFGDAT and SGDAT files somewhere so people can download them. Getting those is the ONLY reason for the first Windows install and slow half-gig INPA download and install in the instructions. The actual files we need are just thirty-something MB.
- You don't necessarily need a 32-bit version of Windows. Works just fine on Windows 8.1 64-bit. All you need to do is set the BMW Standard Tools installer to run in "compatibility mode" for Windows XP.

Hey guys!!!! What's up?
At first, I must say thanks to 808AWD325xi for his wonderful work.
His work is valuable for us, fellow members.
Once again thumbs up!!!

I set up this project on windows 7 Home (download link in #11 post of this thread). FIY this copy has 30 days trial.

Since I had to reinstall windows twice, i thought it's a good idea to keep those 2 folders forever to
avoid second installation and now I want to share with you all the files pack that is necessery for
the project to be set up.
Package includes:
1.Folders from 1st install.
2.Pached files
3.Ms framework
4.standard tools 2.12
5.all the manuals mentiond above.
6.Translations files.
7.Other fun stuff
It's all in there!!!! Enjoy!!!!

Once again, this 2 folders come from windows 7 Home. I can't confirm if they are system specific. Maybe somone will report the usability of them on other system.

Here you are:

SP daten v.55 exclusively for E89 and it's probably the latest (2015):

Thanks a lot for putting it together!
I have used your guide to install on windows xp 32 bit and can successfully read codes in inpa.
Inpa's interface is english/german mix, with controls in english but many datapoints and error codes in german. This is more than enough to carefully track down my misfire issues.

If anyone is interested in windows XP disk image (acronis backup) from thnkpad t510 or any files from XP 32bit - pm me.

I successfully use $22 cable from http://www.ebay.com/itm/190970602608

Thanks for the files, but I am having a problem downloading the Daten file. It shows as being 4.61 GB, and Mega wants me to install an extension for Firefox. When I try that it fails to install every time, so I am unable to download the file.

Cheers!

Try Google Chrome please! One more issue here: I have free account at Mega. Bandwidth limit is 10GB or something per day.

Great work, big thanks to 808AWD325xi. I'm a noob but experienced with process controls in manufacturing, learning a ton but bricked my E66/N62. I have a question about the guide. It's right after the steps where it says to select the USB to serial adapter then click finish to complete the Standard Tools Setup and restart your computer. The next step is to copy the E89 folder from the SP Daten to your hard drive. My question is which source files for the SP Daten files (e.g. is it referring to the SP 502 Daten files from The Die's Mega cloud folder (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=882353) ? Same question for the next several copies/overwrites-what is the source to be used for the CFGDAT and SGDAT files ?
fyi I'm not trying to use the E89 daten for my E66, I'm substituting E65's inplace of the E89 throughout, just want to get the right sources for the files, thanks !
