misfire only with tune...is that normal?
I got thr p29cd misfire cyl 1.
I change the cyl1 plug and switched ign coil to cyl2 to see if coil was bad. I noticed some oil in plug sleeve and on ign coil for 2 cyl. so now I got p29cd and p29ce cyl2 misfire. so ign coilbwas bad but cyl1 should be fine. should I go ahead and change all ign coils? how long to they last? or take it to dealer if I can get codes to appear after cobb uninstall. car is under cpo. also there is oil in the holes beside the ign coil. not sure what the hole is. how does the plug look? Tune is more aggressive than stock, so while your components may just barely handle stock requirements, the agressive tune is too much. Start with new plugs.

yeah, I just swapped all my coil packs and that did the trick, was researching and I think they last around 40-45k miles for a tuned car (not 100% sure on that one as mine had a LOT more miles than that)
but you seem to have a bigger issue than just coils, looks like your valve cover gasket is shot

It's normal to throw a misfire with a tune vs without, just make sure to swap the bad coils and log a couple runs so you can make sure there's nothing out of the ordinary.

I just did the valve cover gasket, theres a diy by Rob ... $36 gasket, 4 - 6 hrs (i take my sweet time) - also look for any cracks in the valve cover itself when u take off ... becareful with fuel rails, triple check all screwed tight, drips from there could mean fire
oil in the cylinder cd mean head gasket leak I heard, open ur cooler bottle and see if it has any milky stuf, oil mixing w coolant Last edited by 007_e350; 05-04-2014 at 06:12 PM.. |
