I swapped my rear for normal tyres 2 months ago, as the way they had worn was rubbish, my mate had same issue same wheels same car etc, excuse the worn tread I did a burn out before changing them outside the tyre place I know you shouldn't mix the 2 but I had no issues at all with handling

This is what I've not got a full set off best tyre other than the A048 yoko I've used on the road, great grip, great feel Michelin Pilot Super Sport

I've noticed they are pretty shocking for sidewall wear though. None of my RFT's have managed to last below 3.5mm of tread before needing replacing, and my tracking is spot on.
Wow that's bad! My dad have got 3.5mm left and there starting to crack slightly

Yeah they're not great are they! I'm going to change to Non-RFT's myself when mine need replacing.

I think I might go for the Michelin PS2's as well - they're not as expensive as I thought - Fronts £180ea - Rears £200ea. Certainly less than the RE05A's.

And fair play for finishing off your tyres! May as well get your money's worth!

I find Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics really good for a mid range tyre. Found them better than much more expensive tyres. Grip is rather good with decent wear for £130 a corner delivered - see tyre drive or camskills

I have the same kind of crack round the inner edge on my fronts (RE05A). Might be time to get some non runflats. Thanks for sharing, could be saving lives potentially.

that damage has been caused by an alignment issue (clear to see in the pic) or has been run on the wrong pressure.

for those of you that change to non-run flats, do you purchase a space saver wheel or just rely on a call out recovery in case of a flat?

thanks

Everything is spot on, no damage to anything, all parts are original never been repaired, I'm a crane engineer and as you say shows 100% alignment/pressure issue, I had the car on the laser that measures tolerance from each side and underneath for damaged booms/jibs and they all came out spot on for every measurement when I bought the car

I had this from the inside out. Let me find the pictures. I was lucky as I was changing the tyres anyway, but the whole inside looked like it was wearing away.

Photos. The inside edge was just wearing away from the rest of the tyre. They only had ~2mm left on them but still not good.

Well I only got them changed because they guy at birds thought they weren't legal from looking from behind (was browsing for a car and he was checking mine out). He said he'd seen similar on the inner edge and the edge was completely worn. It was September so I thought best get some decent rubber for the Winter.

The tyres were legal though and the garage I had them changed at said they would have a good 1k left in them. When they changed it they called me in to look at the tyre saying they had never seen anything like it before.

I thought I had made a thread on here about this before, but maybe I thought it was just a bad tyre issue. Seems like it may be more than that.

Good job you changed that though, I wouldn't have though that would have lasted much longer!!

Deffo seems to be more than a few with similar issues

I have a spray fill can in the boot however this will not deal with a larger hole or rip etc. If this were to happen then it would be a rescue job. I am still toying with the idea of a cheap spare in the boot.

Keep us updated. This is slightly worrying now after seeing how many people are reporting this issue.
