First Time Running 1/4 Mile This Weekend - COBB Race Gas Map
I ran my car for the first time ever on the strip yesterday at FIXXFEST. For those of you that don't know, it is a German car event held every year in Bradenton, FL. It is about 90% VW amd Audi but there are a good number of BMW's that show every year.
I ran 5 times with my best time being my first. The slip looked like this: R/T: .635 60': 2.242 330: 5.657 1/8: 8.398 MPH: 91.62 1000: 10.745 1/4: 12.708 MPH: 114.51 My highest trap of the day was my last run at 115.06. I was very pleased with the consistency of the Cobb tune. 1/4 mile times ranged from 12.708 to 12.904 and traps ranged from 113.62 to 115.06. Mods are DCI, ETS 5" FMIC, AR DP's, and Dinan axle back exhaust. Tune was Cobb race gas map running VPR MS109 on stock turbos and full weight on street tires. I was supposed to get protuned by PTF this past week but they looked at my logs and said my LPFP needed replaced. After my first run, I got a 2A2D code which I found to be a low pressure fuel code. I will be replacing the LPFP and getting protuned by PTF over the next couple of weeks and hitting the strip again. In all honesty, I expected to be in the low 12's but I obviously need to launch better to have a shot at that. I'm assuming the LPFP issue isn't helping times either. |

Congrats! just need a better launch and you will be even happier! You can definately hit very low 12s with that trap speed.

with a 2.2 60' you will not see any good times no matter how good the tune/setup is, it should be your highest priority to get it into 1.9XXs
have you tried to play around with the tire pressure?

I just filled up on 93 yesterday and can log tomorrow if you want to take a look at them. Would the LPFP effect times and trap speed? |

I haven't touched tire pressure. What would you recommend I try for the next trip to the track?

On the rears if you are getting horrible spin, try lowering the pressure by 3-4psi if still spinning bad, try lowering an additional 2-3psi. once you get good traction your ET will improve but trap would suffer, then up the psi again by 1-2. You will have to play around with this back and forth, until you have good traction with the highest pressure = where the car hooks but trap is not impacted significantly.

Depends on what you consider a good time. My buddy did a 12.1@118.50 with a terrible 2.192 60ft and he was happy with that.

115 MPH isn't a bad trap, maybe 360 whp. Has this car been on a dyno and what tires(rear) are on the car. Regardless you need some stickier tires and/or a better prepped track, and you could yank some 12.50s out.

Believe it or not, car is AT. I brake boost from about 2,500 in second and apparently went pedal to the metal from there. Need to modulate the throttle better. Maybe the linear map would help produce better launch. |

I'd borrow, buy, steal, cheat some slicks/DRs and you should roll close to what you want to run. Honestly due to the nature of these cars, the torque spike makes it about impossible to find a sweet spot with all seasons even with a flatter curve. e85 will just induce wheel spin even more(more timing), however I'd imagine you'll pick up a couple few mph and to me that's the most important.

No one should be happy being FBO and running a 12.7 when people get that with just a tune and racegas

I know he should be around low 12's, however I just wanted to state that if someone gets a 2.2 60ft, there is still a chance to get a decent ET just like my friend did.
