Let's share your bmw dealer experience in Puget-Sound Area

Review on their service would be great if anyone has experience. I also am wondering if anybody purchased extended warranty / maintenance from either bellevue or seattle bmw dealers or purchased engine oil service from them. Price?

My friend owned lie 4 bmws so far and he told me bellevue bmw is always busy and they don't do loaner car as oppose to bmw seattle can do it with appointment... Any more information how friendly SA is and so forth?

Let's share some of your experience and insights here...

I have my first service coming up at BMW of Bellevue next week (annual oil change, plus look at my mirrors with alzheimer's....). Anyway, I've got a loaner scheduled for the day. At first they didn't want to give me one (oil change only, wait for the car), but when I added the mirror memory problem, I asked for a loaner and they had one available. My CA told me when I bought the car that if I wanted/needed a loaner, make the appointment 4 weeks in advance.

Otherwise, I've never used their service bay yet. I did an oil change at 5,000 miles, but I went to Eastside Bavarian for that...

Contact John Noyes ("noise") at BMWNW in fife. He is the best SA I've ever dealt with.

No extended warranty here....as far as the oil service is concerned....you must mean for a bimmer that is no longer on warranty? Oil service for non-warranty BMW's are spendy...as you would guess. Might as well do it yourself. My wife took our 330i in for oil change while I was out of town for a few weeks....I think it came to ~$150. I about wet myself when I found out.

OK. That's 3 for BMW NW. Wow. I guess, I'll try them but they are like 40 miles away... lol...

Thanks guys for your info. Lets have more information come in so guys like me can benefit from it. I'll post my review here as well, so anyone who's in need of dealer service can find out where he/she should go.

As far as oil change price, I asked this because I found that it really differs by the dealer. It seems like lot of people get anywhere inbetween $88 to $200 depends on where you live. I've seen one guys said he paid $88 after tax. I'm thinking about paying for oil change service myself in between the free ones... Maybe every 5k miles or so...

And as far as extended warranty goes, if price is right, I'm willing to purchase extra +2 years/100k miles due to all these recent warranty issue with turbo failure and stuff. My friend once blew his 330ci after warranty ran out and it costed him nearly 10k for engine/tranny job. Considering the nature of turbo, I would be scared to drive this thing once warranty runs out.

No for Bellevue for sure.... I have been going to Seattle for quite sometime and never had any problems.

Here is my little write up regarding the service i got from Seattle last time I had the car in there.....:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91625

Fife is a great place as well from what I hear from people....but Seattle is a lot closer to me..... On the other hand if Bellevue was the only dealer in the area, I still would not take my car there.

Well, I just had my car serviced at Bellevue today, and I have to wonder what the heck you guys are asking for to say their service department sucks. My experience is completely satisfactory.

I made the appointment about 4 weeks ago for an annual oil change (9,000 miles in 12 months.) I also wanted them to diagnose my driver's side mirror because it doesn't remember the settings for it. I requested and received a service loaner (328i AT).

I dropped the car off at 9:00 AM today, and asked them to collect an oil sample for me to send to Blackstone. They said "Not a problem. We'll call you when your car is ready." At 3:00 PM they called and said my car is ready, and they are open until 6:00 PM if I can make it back there. To quote my SA, "I wanted to get it done as soon as possible to help you avoid traffic."

They changed the oil and filter, collected the sample, fixed the mirror by replacing the drive motor (it wasn't holding the memory settings properly) and performed SIB #36-02-07 (TPMS udpate through revised progman apparently.) The car had one additional mile on it from dropoff. All that was done in 6 hours.

Service exceeded my expectations. I could barely get out of the car before an attendant helped me find my SA, and I had to wait about 1 minute for him to finish up a phone call with another customer before he helped me. While we were talking and filling out the service order, another SA took the key and did the walk around check. I think it took about 10 minutes to get everything in order (loaner car contract, service write-up, etc.)

Probably, I don't know for sure. But you can read this particular SIB here:

+1, I took mine in a month or so ago to have a bulb replaced. They had it done in about an hour and I got to use their WiFi for some nefarious er I mean legitimate purposes. The only things I didn't like were the steel wool that they used to wash my car with,(but I'll take the blame for telling them not to wash it) and the fact that it took 4 weeks to get in to have it looked at. That wait time is ridiculous.

-You had to make you appoint 4 weeks ago (which is common). Wait until you have something urgent and see which dealer will get you in 1st. Seattle for some reason always got me in within 7 days for emergencies when Bellevue still books you 4 weeks later.

-They do not give out loaners unless you bought the car from them (some one always beat Bellevue's price for $5K or higher for me)

-People usually get their cars after it goes through a sand paper treatment which is what bellevue calls a car wash (this is common for most dealers but Seattle seems to respect your request of "no wash signs" all over the car).

-Overall, Seattle people seem friendlier and seem more accommodating.
--i.e: They have activated my alarm for free and upgraded the nav software. When my buddy wanted all of this done to his car at bellevue that was not the case....

-Coworker moved here from D.C and took his M5 there for a service. After his experience at the service department bec he did not buy his car from them he never went back and Seattle got the order for his next M5.... The guy lives 2 min away from BMW Bellevue.

I think it is little things like these that sway people away from Bellevue..... In and all yes, they do fix your car and get you back on the road. But it is the little things that matter.

However, I am glad to see your experience was good and hopefully, they are doing better now.

TTG, do you know nav software update you got is done on goodwill or mandatory service?

Also, does any of you folks know any BMW dealers in WA can do Dinan flash? I thought I saw some dinan product over Seattle, but not sure about flash.

It was good will mostly. I told them it froze up couple of times on me and before I was able to finish my explanations, they said that they will just update it to latest software to be on the safe side. The whole conversation took less than 30 secs for this.

That is a hardware replacement, yes? Then I don't think they did, because it would be listed on the paperwork (otherwise BMW NA probably wouldn't reimburse them.) So I think I've got the same DME but possibly the latest progman.

I don't know how to determine the status of either the DME or the progman version...

TTG - thanks for taking the time to detail some of the complaints about BMW of Bellevue. Those are all valid points, especially the part about loaner cars. Something so simple and stupid as exluding other BMW owners is like beating them with a stick at the door saying "we don't want your business!"

Maybe the heard the complaints and had a "come to Jesus" meeting. To be fair, my appointment was 4 weeks after I called only because we wanted to make sure I was past the one year mark, so I pushed the appointment out. But it seems they are 3 weeks out on a normal appointments.

Program version update is not hardware replacement, it's just software reflash. You can check the DME version right on ECU inside ECU box. Pre-march 08 version should all be DME 80.

My CA told me BMW Seattle is moving to a new location near Uwajimaya. It would be cool if they can have a waiting area like Bellevue Lexus.

As far as I know of, Lexus of Bellevue is the largest Lexus dealership in the U.S., if not in the world.

Getting off the subject for sure but.... just worked a deal for my mom at Bellevue Lexus and that place is off the hook! I wish BMW Bellevue treated their customers like the folks at Lexus do. All I can say is wow! BTW... the purchase price was invoice + $1,000 Bellevue BMW would tell you to beat it if that was your offer.
