2007 328XI coolant change
Hi All,
Pretty new to this site. I have been reading for quite awhile, though. I have a question regarding the coolant change on the above vehicle. I took the car apart to do this last weekend, and I'm seeing that the removal of the hose on the XI version is ridiculously difficult. So, naturally I was wondering if it's feasible to empty the radiator, and while doing so, start the bleed procedure to get the pump going to empty the block at the same time. I was thinking of stopping the process as soon as I heard the pump whine. Any Thoughts? Fishead |

Confused as to what you're asking, because you don't need to remove any hoses to change the coolant on our vehicles. There is a petcock at the bottom of the radiator for draining the coolant. Open it...let the coolant drain...replace with 50/50 mix of BMW coolant and distilled water (with the bleed screw open)..close the bleed screw, replace cap on the reservoir, then perform the bleed procedure for the electric pump. Changing the coolant on these vehicles is ridiculously easy.

Hi BHMax16,
Thanks for responding. I'm trying to get all the old coolant out. Not sure if you can get to what's left in the block with your method. A lot of the DIY videos remove the hose at the back of the thermostat, and I'm finding that extremely tight with the added frame structure of the XI. Thanks, Fishead |
