New owner looking for mod suggestions (2011 335i xDrive)
Hello everyone- I'm a new owner/member looking for some suggestions for mods. I have a 2011 335i xDrive w/ steptronic.
1. Suspension; first I wanted to address the rather high stock ride height of my car. From reading on the forums I've heard that the xDrive models don't come with sport suspension from the factory thus the even higher than normal ride height. I do, however, like how smooth the ride is. Unfortunately I simply hate the way it looks. So needless to say I'm torn. Is it possible to lower the car in one way or another (springs, coil overs) and retain stock comfort? Or is that an oxymoron? What is the best method to lower the car (moderately) and still retain a smooth ride? 2. Tuning; I've found there are 3 major players in this department. Burger Tuning, Vishnu, and Cobb. I'm familiar with Cobb from the days I had my 2005 STi. Cobb Stage 2 was a great add-on for the car and very easy. Cobb's setup is an OBD flash vs. Piggyback boxes like the Burger and Vishnu correct? Is there a consensus on which one makes the best tune or is that like asking which brand of oil to use? 3. Downpipe; are the existing tunes out there designed around this additional mod? Also what's the power difference between catted and non-catted? Does the non-catted smell and/or throw any codes? 4. Intake; this is one area I haven't found much on. What is or are some of the top intakes for the N55 engine right now? Again, are the off-the-shelf tunes designed to account for a CAI? |

1. Try Eibach springs + dampers - they'll lower your car ~1" and retain an almost-stock ride.
2. Consider the Dinan Stage 2 if you are concerned about the warranty. Or JB4 if not. 3. Yes. I think ~20 hp or so if you have a good tune. 4. BMS DCI is a very popular choice. Good bang for your buck.

1. Suspension; KW V2 for the adjustability of height and ride
2. Tuning; No cobb for N55, I have procede and love it but its preference so search them up and choose what suits you best 3. Downpipe; there are 4 main dps, vishnu, ar, berk, and icarbon. Go catless or dont waste your money 4. Intake; intakes have not been showing much gains atm, just get a nice oiled filter

1. I'm a KW whore.
2. Currently running a procede, I'm sure you'd like it. 3. AR downpipe for me. Love it. 4. I'd say go with Injen
