Then I am fairly certain it's a NA car, which makes life easier probably, haha.

I am still curious about:

Is there any way to add factory BT to the car still? It has navi + idrive, so hopefully not too hard?

and how big the hard dirve is and what formats I can add them in.

Definitely a US/CA car - pic of the stickers under the hood prove it.

Check the headliner next to the lights/sunroof control. If there is a button there for SOS, you have/had BMW Assist, which comes with BT. It's always possible to install it afterwards, but could be quite pricey ($500+).

thanks floyd, good yo know .. no SOS button

sounds like it'll be too much to even attempt to hook up BT ... don't want to pay $500+ just for it now!

So it's a 2009. CIC iDrive. I think 8gb space is available for media? You need FSC code for new maps. Bluetooth retrofit is possible, you just need the right parts, wiring and coding. Search the forum for threads about it.

No, just need new maps. Check the iDrive forum, someone linked to a download of the 2014 CIC maps and is offering FSC codes.

Check the Audio sub-forum. Might be some help/threads there.
