coming from a 19 year old 335i owner i say u get a 328 just cuz infintiy does not compare to a bmw at all.

QFT, can't drive a manual while getting road head or hitting the pipe.

Can't comment on the Infiniti never having owned one. Had a 2008 328i 6MT for two years and never felt is was a slow car. I may be old school, but a 0-60 time is the low 6 second range is not slow compared to most cars. Sport and premium is a must IMHO.

One thng I liked about the 328 is you could rev it all the way to redline and have decent power. Stay on the power band and the car is by no means slow. I can't rev my 335 like I did the 328, course the low end power is no comparison.

You're 18. Start off with a cheaper-to-repair G35.

Actually the 07 g coupe has the vq35hr motor, not the vq35de motor. Basically that means its much faster than every other model year g coupe. The motor has a lot more power than most people think and those will run 13's bone stock no problem. You will never get that from a 328.

well i have owned a 03 g35, 09 370z, and currently own an 08 135i and an 06 325xi

things that matter are ... does the bmw has navi. this to me makes the inside of the car much more appealing and useful, does the g35 have navi?

power and performance wise the g35 with its vlsd and almost 100 more horsepower will be the car you have more "fun" driving. The bmw will feel more sophisticated but if I were to pick one car to drive everyday when I was 18, I would pick the G35.

But a 328 coupe with the right wheel on it, and an upgraded suspension, can end up being very very pretty.

issue with the bmw and same thing with g35s their base wheels are a bit blah so if one is a base model and other has sport package and 18" wheel that you like that can play a roll in your decision.

If one car is much more loaded than the other that can change the decision but judging by your user name i think the g35 is the car for you.,

With the G35 defiantly watch for oil consumption, the first thing I would do when I look at any g35 is check the oil, if its a qt low, RUN away from it.. if the car doesn't burn oil you really have nothing to worry about.

but if you want the classier car , its the bmw. The BMW is def better made but at 18, id take the g35 if it was nicely equipped.

but as I stated first I now own two BMWs and unless Nissan releases a turboed Z again I will prob own nothing but bmws for now on. And I'm with others if you can get a 335 do so! the 328 is down way too much power to the other two, not that its the slowest car out there, it's just not a very powerful car but a car that serves its purpose as an all around cruiser very well.

07 g35 coupe still has the vq35de and sedan has the HR.... as does the the 07-08 350z. The coupe was screwed out of the vq35hr motor.

a full bolt on 07 g35 coupe is still a low 13 second car driven correctly .

the 07 sedan g35 is actually superior to the coupe in almost every way. esp interior and motor wise. the 08-09 g37 sedan differs only by its name over the 07 g35 sedan. SAME car other than name. Try getting to drive a 07 g35 sedan too.

for a young guy like yourself, G35 is more than adequate in getting chicks if that's your aim. when the time comes to upgrade to bmw, you'd appreciate it more. makes sense to start out small. bmw has an array of circuits and knick knacks that can go wrong and it'll be a pain to fix. if you like working on cars, I would go with infiniti-- less migraine.
regardless, i love bmw and i don't get tired of commuting in it.

Don't forget if he is in high school so its the name that matters a lot plus there are always AA tunes that can fix the power deficiencies.

Hm I stand corrected I always thought they had the HR. must be the rev up model which was even worse than the standard DE.

Dude, I would choose the Bimmer over the Infiniti any day. I actually wanted one myself a long time ago, and honestly I am glad i choose the 3 over the G. I have driven a G35 coupe many times and one of my friends had a G35 coupe. He even admits the 3 is a better car overall. As far as performance, the G does take it on take off, but in the long run believe or not, the 328 actually beats it pretty good. It wasn't until we reached 80 - 90 mph where my car started to over take the G35, in other words, beat the coupe. Mind you, they are both auto and stock. My 3 didn't have sport package either. As far as handling, the G isn't bad, caught up pretty good with my car, but once again that is because i didn't have the sport package on the car. As far as the interior goes, Im sorry but the interior Infiniti has is really cheap and plasticy. Don't even compare the interior quality BMW has on their cars to Infiniti. loll... Overall, the 3 series is a better car. I dont mean to badmouth on the G, it is still a good car, but never as good as the 3 series ... If you do decide to get the 3 series, make sure to get it with sport package. It really makes a difference on the car's handling. Plus it gives you the sporty edge you want

Btw forgive me on my grammar and spelling, I was in a rush writing this loll.

I drove the G before I bought my 328. I liked the 328 MUCH better. It's not nearly as fast as a 335, but it's a great well-balanced car with 6MT and sports.

Car & Driver's comparison road tests over the years have come to the same conclusion. Plus 0-60 in ~6 seconds flat is not bad.

Just make sure you pay attention to the G35 seat comfort and where the seat belt hits you over the shoulder, mine hit me in the neck. I don't remember if it was fixed for the 07s but the thigh bolsters and seat belt location sucked for the 06s...

Just to let everyone know, I ended up with a 08' BMW 328i e92 with idrive and no sport aswell as an auto tranny. I feel like i made the right decision, although i sorta with i had the manual (parents stoped me from getting manual), but no big deal because i dont think there are many highschoolers that have 08 bmws.
