+ a gazillion on the $20 comment. When I lost mine a year ago, I had set it down somewhere in a grocery store for all of 5 minutes, and it was gone. Bastards.

Anyway, $20 would be well worth saving the hassle of getting a new phone, activation, and getting all of your contacts restored.

$20, cause everyone likes a free lunch! Sure they didn't do it for a reward, but hell it's a free lunch.

I returned a guy his wallet via his Library card... I took it to the library and asked if they could contact the guy and get him his wallet back? They were able to get hold of him, so I could would be able to leave it there.

Well he had $8 in his wallet when I found it. So I figured WTF, and Stuck $40 in there for him and took his $8...

Figured what the hell, if you are loosing wallets with only $8 in em, a little freebie might make your day better... Was a younger guy too... So Why not.

I am sure it was a nice surprise. Made me laugh inside, I figure hell, what are the chances of getting your wallet back, let alone back with extra cash like it just went to Vegas or something...

Go with a 6 pack of something good or a $20 but no more then that is really necessary unless you're feeling very giving.

OT: the moto Q blows, no offense. I'm taking mine back tonight or tomorrow haha.

I don't get it, yall are saying either a $20 bill or a 6 pack.

Why not offer him a case of the beer of his choice? Then if he declines, hand him a $20.

Having been on the side of finding some thing that belongs to someone else, don't be surprised if this guy declines any gift. Believe it or not there are people who do the honest thing without expecting anything in return. As well as not accepting gifts.

But it is the polite thing to offer.

Good karma always pays you back. That's extremely nice of you! I lost my wallet a few times and never gotten it back. I know if someone returned it with money inside, i'd do just the same to the next person.

Pay it forward!

So what did you end up giving him?

Honestly, I think the amount rewarded depends on how much the information in your phone is worth to you. My phone is a BB with my life in it. Sure I back it up on my computer but I dont want a lot of that information out there. Plus, getting a new one to replace it would cost me a couple hundred.

If it were me and the phone came back in great shape, Id offer $50.

Then again, I question how the guy got your number to call you that he found your phone.

I ended up bringing him up with 20 bucks. I actually wished I would have brought a little more--cause the guy had to have been in his early 20's and he had to use a cane to walk. At first he didn't want to take it, but I said, hey--you didn't have to stop and pick up my phone, let alone call me--so buy yourself lunch or something. So he took it...
