I feel the exhaust cut-out might be sticking out maybe a little too much. It's definitely a nice subtle addition to the design

Might have more pics up before Christmas, but I'm not holding my breath myself. Best bet would be first or second week in Jan for pics of the final mould... |

Not as yet unfortunately. I will be getting hold of the moulder today though to find out how the mould is progressing. I'm going to be pushing quite hard on this for January - so that at least we have a prototype ready for the end of the month and then hopefully fix whatever snags and fitment issues we may come up against and have it out by the end of Feb...
I think that's a reaslistic plan at the moment. Sorry that it's taking a little longer than expected! |

Hi Guys
Sorry for the lack of updates. Feels like it's been forever that any movement has happened on this. And it's basically because I cannot get hold of the moulder at the moment. It's come to the point where I'm actually going to drive through to his offices on Monday to speak with him because I can't reach him on the phone or via email at the moment. If worse comes to worst I'll take the mould thus far and find someone else to complete it for me. I am highly annoyed at the moment. If anything - give me till Monday for an update. Thanks for your patience guys! |

Update: 31-01-2011
Hi Guys
Again, apologies for the fact that this is taking so long. As I posted earlier, I went through to the guys place this morning and he was apparently away repairing a power stations cooling pipes - another one of his businesses - which put everything in the CF department on hold. He apparently only returned on Saturday, but was glad to see me because he says that he also wants to get this thing done - I think mostly because I haven't paid him for anything yet... So we chatted again to confirm the changes that I spoke to him about in December and he said that he will have a revised pattern ready on Wednesday. So I'm going to go through there again on Wednesday morning just like I did today. I'm no longer going to try manage this over the phone or via email as it just doesn't seem to work. Anyway - if all goes well, we should be able to pull a mould and have a prototype component ready by this time next week. Hold thumbs for me! Then I want to get him started on a quad version immediately to satisfy the actual greater demand for a quad than for the stock. I can't promise anything but now that the bulk of the work is done I immagine it should take a much shorter time to get a mould out. On that note, does anyone have an idea on the size of the apperature and positioning for the quad tips? I've done some research and can't find a definitive answer - any pointers would be helpful... Thanks! |

Updated Pics
Hey Guys
Just wanted to put up some updated pics. You'll see that they've started working on some of the points that we mentioned before. Just to recap: 1. The extrusions over the exhaust are being made smaller so that they don't stick out over the exhausts. 2. The profile of the exhaust covering section is also being made to match the profile of the fins. 3. The "cavities" betweent the fins are being made deeper so that 4. The fins will be made longer without them havig to protrude any further from the main profile of the diffuser. From a timing perspective, the final pattern will be ready next week Wednesday - from which a mould will be made and the first prototype part can be pulled. If all goes well I should have a prototype on my car within 2 weeks. Questions / comments etc? |
