DIY Shadowline trim--$74 local 818 Valley
Hey 818 people.
I just did my E39 5-Series and I will post pics later. I bought some "Blackout Tape" at Pep Boys, a box of razor blades, some rubbing alcohol, a rag, and some patience. Mine came out FANTASTIC. I'd be willing to give advice or tips but I wouldn't mind doing this for money. If you're too lazy and live in so cal, give me a shout out (vvvernon@gmail.com) and I'll do this for $14 parts (one roll for each side @ $7/ea.) and $60 labor (Gas money--haha) I know there's another guy on here offering this but I think he's in the OC or something so I don't feel like I'm eating into his stuff. Yess... worthless without pics. I'll post later when I get home. I actually painted one side using OEM German WURTH satin trim paint. It came out OK but chipped when my car was EGGED. I don't blame the wurth though, even my OEM clear coat got permanently etched due to the egging incident. So THEN I decided to try the TAPE on the other side (Passenger) This method looks JUST as good, if not better than the paint, and is reversible. So far its been two weeks and the tape is holding up awesomely, including two car washes.
