Now that the weather is getting warm, the Nashville guys ought to get together for a drive or something. Maybe Natchez Trace...Nashville to Leipers Fork and back? Then get some food?

My gas mileage has dropped for some reason I only get about
300 miles to a tank. I drive like 90-95% city though.

Hey, 911, what kind of gas do you use? I mean what brand? I noticed mine has dropped in the past month or so, too. I also noticed the other night when I was filling up that the Shell stations now have stickers on the pump that say up to 10% ethanol in their gas. I think they have been using ethanol before, but just noticed this sticker. If they just recently raised the levels to 10%, it could explain some of the MPG differences, as ethanol does not contain as much energy as gasoline.

Ethanol has higher octane than gasoline, so creates more power, but reduces MPG, as I heard.
Since I got the car in July 2007 I have only run Shell 93 in it.

Yeah, I have used nothing by Shell 93 as well. Maybe the ethanol increase has something to do with the MPG drop. Oh, and yes it has a higher octane, which just means they cut it with lower octane gasoline to reach the octane levels at the pump. Personally I am not a fan of ethanol....takes more energy to make it than it produces, and the process releases a lot of pollutants.
Interesting find: "According to a recent article, drivers in Honolulu (and perhaps elsewhere) are complaining of reduced gas mileage in the two months since Hawaii switch to gasoline blended with 10% ethanol. According to the Ethanol Promotion and Information council, most drivers using a 10% ethanol-blended gas will experience a 1-2% drop in mileage. But some drivers in Hawaii are claiming that their mileage has dropped by 25-30%."

I can notice it 2, I used to get 300 miles out of my car even just
going WOT pretty much all the time. Now driving like a grandma and maybe going WOT sometimes Im getting the same. My average over a 1000 miles or something close to that is only 19.7mpg

Hey all.
Since I had my Progman software updated a month ago, my mpg increased from 19.2 to low 20.0's. However, in the last week or 2, dropped down again. I just noticed an ethanol sticker at the local BP station; that may explain the slight drop. I have plans to have someone local detail my exterior (clay, correct some minor swirls) this weekend. It's supposed to rain, so I'm unsure if I have to reschedule. His name is Brandon (JRock1 on Autopia). He seems to be experienced, although he's just got his local detail business going this past year, part time. He's going on a trip for a month or so next week (boating or something), so I may have to wait for the polish until June. I'll certainly post pics of his work, good or bad, when he's done. |

I will be getting all the goods for cleaning, I have everything right now,
except for a Multi-Speed Rotory Buffer. I will also be getting a good bit of Chemical Guys stuff for detailing, me and my bro are going to start getting good at detailing, right now we have a old car to work with and see how we do.

That sucks...bet it wouldn't have happened if you were driving a Honda. It sucks that people who drive BMWs for their performance are lumped together with those who drive them for their status (the "typical" BMW driver).

Take it with a grain of salt and continue life. There's bigger things to worry about.
