Power steering reservoir MIA.

I’ve just done the ridiculous air filter replacement on my ‘06 330d and it occurred to me I’ve never checked the power steering level. Where the hell is my reservoir? I’ve googled it and all the images just show the standard tank with the wavy shaped cap near the coolant expansion tank but mine isn’t there. Am I going mad or blind?

From some more googling I’ve found some E92’s had electric steering although all the stuff I found are on about lci cars. I’d be surprised a car as old as mine had electric steering but it would explain the mystery.
I’ll be under the car tomorrow because my tame MOT tester is letting me use one of his lifts to swap out my springs and shocks so I’ll have a look if there’s a weird ‘thing’ attached to the steering rack.
