335i Free BOV DIY Help / Question

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55073

So I am sure you guys have seen this DIY on here. Now I just had a few questions and the thread seems to not have the answer so I thought it would be better to bring it here.

1) Is this safe for our cars?

2) As I was playing around with it today I was only able to get the front plug loose. The back one wouldn't budge. I tried it with both the cower on and off but still both didn't help. I stopped tugging on it because I was afraid of it breaking. So if it is okay for our cars is it fine to just have one unplugged and the other one plugged in ?

Thanks for your help.

I did it the other day. Now I have a boost leak. Don't know if it's related or not but I am never doing it again.

Yes it's safe. Just be sure you have the intake side capped off from where you unhooked the DVs. Just unhooking 1 shouldn't hurt anything.

Were you able to get your logs to terry to confirm that you have a boost leak?

Unfortunately no. I don't have a usb cable. I am 99% sure it's leaking, and I am picking some up wednesday from a forum member to see if that's the issue.

Yea its capped off so it doesn't suck in and debris from the engine bay.

I'm thinking I have a weak DV. This mod theoretically shoudn't cause it, but I think it's a wierd coincidence. I still don't know if I am leaking for sure, but I think so based on the surging boost at part throttle (which you will feel as inconsistant power) and a vacuum sound while on the throttle. I only have JB4 and DCI.

Same boat as you here my friend, I can't out the rear one and don't want to mess with it, but the front one comes out easily. I just don't know if it should be done with just one. I have a DCI, so I get a little bit of the BOV sound, and when I unplugged the one in the front and revved it up a bit I didn't notice any sound increase.

as long as you plug the holes for the intake it works perfectly fine, its only going to get the you bov sound and no other benefits/drawbacks

Just buy a DCI. After adding Injen DCI to my car I could clearly hear spooling and a Bob like sound from stock DV. Now with the tune we can hear it a lot more. As I said just buy dci and you will enjoy it a lot more !

I have a DCI already.

I had it out for the drive to work but I was worried about it and I felt like the car wasn't running as smoothly as normal (I know it was probably just in my head)

That and I didn't notice much of a sound difference. (yesterday I test drove it with the cower off which is probably why I heard it a lot more)

So I plugged everything back to its original state.

I'd save up and just buy a charge pipe w/BOV

plenty pop up in the FS section for around $350. The ricer side in me wants one so bad, but the conventional side says it's not worth it haha
