Winter Tyres

Noticed today that the temperature has dropped quite a bit, has anyone fitted their winter wheels/tyres yet? or is everyone waiting for the last minute before putting on the smaller wheels?

I've not put mine on yet, but am heading over to my parents on Sunday to get them out of their garage and give them a wash and prep them ready for use, I'd imagine they will be on in another few weeks

I have 18" the same as the summer wheels although they are a square setup instead of staggered

Mine went on today. More due to the state of my summers rather than panicking about the weather though. Slicks in these conditions are no fun with 400hp.

Not until the gritters show their ugly faces and the icy mornings.

Still on my new shiny 313's

I have anthracite MV3s for summer & Silver CSL reps for winter, I like them both but it's very refreshing seeing the car on different wheels - I've put about 6 coats of AG EGP on the CSLs to keep them clean & interested to see how long it lasts.

Contemplating buying some winter's for my e93 atm.
I've had quattro's for the last 5 or 6 years or so and I remember my old e46 330cd being pathetic lol.
So if anybody knows of some mv3's (my preferred choice) with winter tyres, let me know!

Haven't even thought about it yet, they'll probably go on mid November.

First morning of scraping the ice from the windows today, my winters will be going on this week.

Actually had them on by this time last year and they stayed on til mid-March, but I guess I'm further north than most folk on here.

MV3s for the summer, anthracite 18" 189s for ease of cleaning with winters.

Argh just followed the gritter on the way home from my evening shift!

Maybe December was optimistic!

Giving it a good couple of weeks unless weather forecast says otherwise.

I'm in the Midlands, and had to scrape my car yesterday morning. I'm checking forecasts daily, and my winters will likely be going on this week or next.

I second the 7/8 rule - if it's 7/8 for 3 consecutive days get your winters on.

The problem with your rule is that in the NW we are below 7 during the night but 9/11 during the day, and most of my driving is in the 9/11 zone so it will probably be at least another week for me
