DIY: 3.46 differential swap from 1 series to an e90

Guys, I am purchasing a 3.46 differential from a 1 series and trying to mount it to my e90 330i which has a 3.15 stock differential. If all goes well I will post pics and complete the diy guide.

You can get 3.73 easily since they're stock on AT 328s (and 325s).

~$350 shipped here http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E90-328-...#ht_500wt_1180

If anyone's going from an AT-->MT diff (or the other way around), you'll also need the corresponding driveshaft since the lengths are different.

Hmm, I might have to look into this. Wonder what other work would be involved. Need to find a ration calculator to see what speeds would be running at what rpms and gears.

Ohh is the 1 series an LSD?

i never pulled the trigger on this but im fairly certain it would work flawlessly. I did this swap on my e46 a few years ago. there are several 1 series differentials on ebay for sale. someone should go for it.
