I have a European e90; I have upgraded to the M Sport wheel from a non sport standard wheel. After installation I noticed 2 red lights on the dashboard display; one for the airbag and the other for the seat belts; I immediately called the Dealer and their technician says once the airbag is changed (i.e. the circuit is open) the computer has to be reset.
So now I have to take the car to have the computer reset to get rid of those annoying red warning lights...
Hope Bavarian will add this to his DIY for us guys who have Euro E90s.
Hi Bimmer4Life
Did you get the new MF buttons or you re-used the non sport MF buttons? It seems the non sport buttons wont fit the sport steering panel cover...

Question

Hey... Great DIY... Ultimately... what is the verdict? I have a '06 325i with the sport package. Will both the M Tech steering wheels (perforated and tri-color) fit with no gaps at the airbag and with the original cover? Thanks!

Verdict is GOOD!
The perforated M wheel with original sports package cover work fine.
Perfect fit. I'm glad I did not buy the M cover.

it's really easy once you unhook the airbag, that's the hardest part of the install

It's not the install that's deterring me, it's the fact I need to get the right tools for the job THEN install it. I'm one lazy mofo.

you don't really need any special tools, just a thin & long flat head screw driver to unhook the springs that hold the airbag, and a wrench set!

I lost all my tools after my last move... I'd have to go and buy some wrenches/torq.

I bought one from qalbeli last Friday ($265 + $45 S&H) and it was delivered to me yesterday. It looks and feels awesome. Ordered the ///M cover and m-sport ebrake handle from crown auto and should have them this week.

It's kind of funny; I bought an m-sport shifter on ebay at exactly the same time as the wheel, from a guy here in the states, and the wheel got here from POLAND before the shifter has even shipped.

I was a little nervous about the smooth leather on the wheel vs. the perforated leather on the m-sport shifter and e-brake handle, but since they're all black, I don't think it will matter much.

no, it would not work for you, look at the DIY addedum that I've created http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57159

if you buy it from the dealer, expect to pay >1,500 for the whole setup, there's nothing you can reuse from the non-zsp steering wheel
