Is oem sapphire black paint, close enough to gloss black?

Is there a big difference to the eye?

Cheers

I have sapphire black. It looks like gloss black until the sun hits it, and you can see the silver/gray metal flakes in the paint.

So it's only in the sun you can see the difference.... which is silver flakes in! I'm guessing its only close up you'll notice it as well!?

Cheers

I don't know the reason for your question but, if this helps, the non-metallic paint BMW use is called jet black and is the same depth of black as sapphire black but minus the metallic flake obviously.

Jet black is a pig to clean and to shine in comparison with sapphire black which also needs attention to keep looking good plus the benefit of not looking too bad when very wet.

If you are touching up a sapphire black car with gloss black paint, I have no clue if that will work.

"gloss" i.e. "reflective finish" is usually a term used with decorative paints not car paint.

All car finishes are gloss, except the special frozen/matte finishes.

Do you mean non-metallic?

Agreed as all most colours are coated with lacquer that gives the gloss appearance of any colour discounting the matt or frozen options.
