12/07, My SA says it should still be covered. BMWNA gave me nothing as well i even brought up the SB but she told me she has no access to SB's, She did verify my in service date was 12/07 as well and i am under the miles. So annoying. |

My 09 135i is going in for the warranty on Feb 6.
Does anyone know the turnaround time on the turbo replacement?

http://www.bimmerfile.com/wp-content...wn54update.pdf Mainly this part: "Vehicles produced from September 2007 to March 2008 Do not replace the turbocharger or adjust the existing waste gate actuator control rod." People make it sound like this is an all encompassing warranty, but it's not. Seems most dealers give people a pretty hard time about this.

Good News! I just spoke with BMWNA and they have now decided that my VIN does qualify for the SB and my Dealer is approved to replace my turbos at no charge to me. Stoked! It should be ready next week. glad i am out of town for a week anyway.

Hey guys, I just joined the forum (although I have been on here multiple times) & had a quick question regarding the turbo issues on the N54 motors.
I'm planning on buying my first BMW & its either going to be a 328 or 335. There's one that I have been looking @. Speaking with the owner, he mentioned that he got the HPFP replaced, but not the turbos. I don't think that he is having any issues with the wastegate, but that doesn't mean that it won't happen in the future. The car has 67k miles & should still be under the extended warranty. I guess the real question that I have is, will BMW cover the cost if I purchase the car & any problems arise in the future? Here is the car, http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/5194587907.html Thanks in advance guys! EDIT: Sorry for reviving an old thread. xD Last edited by WizrdSleevz; 09-01-2015 at 01:26 AM.. |

If your turbos fail during the warranty period then yes, BMW will cover the replacement. Make sure you are experiencing the symptoms of failure before you take it in or they will charge you for the diagnostic.

just to clarify, this is a wastegate warranty. failed turbos due to seal etc are not covered to 82k.

Are they replaced in pairs or solely based on diagnostics?

Hi guys, i recently got another 335 which is at 100k miles. I asked the original owner if the turbo warranty had been done and he told me that he never had the problem so it was never done. My question is since it was never done can i still get the turbos replaced under warranty or was it just impossible since its above 82k miles? In my case what am i supposed to do? thanks in advance

Mine is doing it on startup and it's going in next Thursday. If they don't replace, I'll do aftermarket when they fail and eat the 150 bucks.

I've always been curious about this one...people who got new turbos, did you actually have an issue? My understanding is that you are at a stop sign, and you rev the motor, you get an annoying rattling sound, you have the problem. I've often wondered is it better to have no problem, or to have it.

Definitely refurbished, but I'm wondering, who is better off? Someone who has never had an issue and their car is aging, or someone who got new turbos? Because the thread definitely seems to go....woohooo! I got new turbos! Is that a good thing? If you're having a problem, probably.

Wow... If that's the case, any1 getting turbos replaced should ask to keep their old ones. I'm starting to think that the original turbos are better than refurbished. But it may be luck of the draw.. 🗿

Hey guys, I'm new to the 335i game as it's my 11th BMW. I know this may have been beaten to a drum but is the recall/warranty on the turbos/wastegates/HPFP voided if the car is modded?

My 2007 335i has 65k miles and i was just told i have wastegate rattle and turbos are going bad.
It does not seem like I'm covered anymore by that extended warranty, is that true? If I decide to go with after market turbos to push the car to 700_800 hp range, where should I start? What turbos do u recommend? My mechanic said it will cost about $2k for the aftermarket turbos and 500 labor. |
