Contemplating a GoPro

Hey guys,

So I was thinking about getting a GoPro for driving, skiing, snowboarding etc. I was planning on the HD hero 3 and was wondering if any of you guys had any experience with it. Is the black edition worth it or would the silver be sufficient?

Thanks so much!

We just bought the GoPro Hero 3 HD in our little office (Silver). First impression is very nice. It's really small and light. Via iPad app (and WiFi) you can change the settings of the cam and see an livestream (a little bit delayed). Here is our first timelapse video (the day our GoPro arrived witch was Friday so we didn't have much more time to check it out):

Black Edition is totally worth it. Just took mine up to Whistler and Mammoth for some snowboarding, and it took some great HD footage. It'll be coming with me to Willow on the 19th as well.

As far as silver vs. black, definitely go black! The resolution is a bit better, the WiFi remote works great when your taking a canyon run/track day and want to start/stop from inside your car.

We didn't even know there was a black one Is it only better when it comes to resolution? Because the silver one works great with the app too.

Was at whistler over the weekend and probably 1 in 30 people had a go pro strapped to their helmets.

YouTube is going to be saturated with go pro vids of people going down mountains.

Any whistler vids people post of this last weekend will be full of sun covered snowy mountain peaks.... Worth a look.

You see the same at the Colorado resorts as well. I received an original GoPro as a gift last year but have yet to try it out while snowboarding.

Need a time lapse for the dog! If you put the camera on the dog, be sure to post the vid.

Get it! You'll capture things that you would not expect.. and the video would become evidence if anything ever happens

Someone on a different forum was having endless issues with their car at the dealership, so they hid a gopro in the back somewhere and caught the Forman driving the car into one of the arms on a lift resulting in a damaged rim. Worked out pretty well for him

The video with the dog is shot but not edited yet. But I made a video of my son. That's the best thing you can do - give your GoPro to a 8 months old

Cute kid . Love the part with him sitting with the dog.

Videos like that will be great for his wedding day.

320d warpspeed

After playing with the GoPro for a while now, I can say this is the best spent 250 € in a while. I don't know if I would pay 500 € for the Black Edition tho...

No... in this mode the GoPro makes a sequence of .jpgs. Then you need a software to fit everything into a movie.
