Thanks for the great writeup, msbc721! There is a small error in your parts list:

Do you remember what is the part number for the side bolster clips? The part number posted in the other thread was wrong. Last edited by slade; 07-27-2011 at 09:25 AM.. |

Great DIY and great help. Here's the deal: I have 2 e90s and changing out the entire leatherette with leather from the other car. ie...one is premium package and the other is not. So, technically I have all the parts needed including hardware. To clarify, the donor car has folding split seats the "new" car does not. The only parts I'm thinking I might need to purchase are the plastic screw holders that expand when mounting the manual seatback release handles..... Thoughts???? Am I missing anything here?
Thanks, Steve |

Just completed this retrofit in my '07 e90 335i. Greatly appreciate the DIY thread! It was fairly easy and straightforward. A few item quantities are off though, as well as my car did not have the bolster clips, I was missing two LATCH covers, and I optioned to not do the middle belt.
If you have the seats/bolsters/headrests, but nothing else, here is what you would need: Seat Back Locks -Left: 52 20 7 112 863 -Right: 52 20 7 112 864 Seat Back Lock Actuators -Left: 52 20 7 151 369 -Right: 52 20 7 151 370 Cable Holders: 72 11 8 177 700, [2x] (optional) Seat Back Lock Actuators Screws: 07 11 9 901 299 [4x] Seat Back Lock Actuators Screw Hole Inserts: 63 12 1 374 075 [4x] Folding Seat Support Bracket: 52 20 7 161 259 Folding Seat Support Bracket Screws: 07 14 7 161 279 [2x] Folding Seat Back End Support Brackets: 52 20 7 118 701 [2x] Folding Seat Back End Support Bracket Torx Bolts: 07 14 6 952 304 [2x] OEM Two Piece Middle Seat Belt (optional) Upper Part: 72 11 7 132 245 Lower Part: 72 11 9 138 232 OEM Lower Child LATCH Covers (may need if yours are broken or missing) ISOFIX Cover: 52207118674 [max 4x] Side Bolster Clips (may need, my car did not have them) Side Clip: 52207157536 [2x]

Finally will be implementing this great writeup!
I truly missed the convenience and utility of folding rear seats like I had in my E46 and have been searching an entire year for the availability of folding seats. My patience was rewarded via CraigsList with practically brand-new (low mileage) black Sensatec (matches my existing "leatherette" interior) setup complete with headrests and ski-bag "boot." And no way can you realistically find a complete folding rear set ensemble on eBay for $200 nowadays (one decent looking set is still for sale at $699 free shipping, while another set was $800 local pickup only on the East coast, though it did include front seats as well). Since I will definitely require the detachable center seat belt to allow more unrestricted room with the seats folded, that will bump the cost of ancillary parts another $175 ($125 for the top half and $50 for the lower half) for a total of $325 plus shipping.

For the center support bracket:
Is there a top/bottom orientation, does it matter, or does it fit in only one way? There's an angled corner and a rounded corner so it would appear that it has to be installed in a specific orientation.
