DIY - How to Disable e92 “ Seatbelt Assist ” arm

Agree it that it meets my requirements. Just don't think I could do something so invasive and I would still hear the motor trying in vain.

I'll probably wait until my driver's side doesn't work well and then disable fuse.

How many of you have problems with the assist arm? My car has almost 8200 miles on it and daily driving since the beginning of the year and I think my arm has messed up once or perhaps twice and it was easily remedied by punching the button again. Imo it's silly to disable one of the sickest features of the car.

10% of the time the butler doesn't grab the belt, on both sides. On passenger side, 5% of the time it doesn't go back into place properly (butler's fault) and 5% of the it is a passenger's fault who isn't familiar with car and messes with it. The first problems occurred only few months after getting the car. Lame, but not as lame as my Idrive malfunctions.

I really like having the assistant for MY seatbelt, however:

A) any passenger getting in the car, either gets confused as hell, by the arm
B) accidently smashes the shit out of it when going to reach for the belt
C) sometimes does not work.

I think the reason the passenger side arm fails sometimes, but the driver side doesnt, is because too many passengers have bent it, and smacked it on accident. Also the passenger has a horrible rattle that wont go away. I fucking hate that arm now.

Probably not a concern for many of you....
I live in the Yukon, and we just had our first cold snap of -25C (not that cold really). The arm (butler) has a few issues with cold;

-seat belt arm came loose completely and had to be put back in
-arm got stuck in extended position without me noticing. When I exitted car it snapped like a twig at the end.

Thanks for the helpfull post- I will disable to get rid of annoying motor sound that hums for 30 sec after enterring car (I removed broken arm).

Cheesy feature.

Just an FYI - the fuse panels may be different on different models, so check your fuse number that corresponds to the picture referenced above. On my '08 E92 coupe it was fuse #30, which was all the way to the far right.

I have an 08 also and #30 is listed as the seatbelt fuse. Pulled it and I no longer bash my hand on the silly assistant bar. Everything else seems perfect. Thank you for this great information!!!

Thanks, my is 07, it is #25 fuse. You can check the sample paper, it will tell you clear which is the fuse for seat belt.
I believe the fuse only disable the assist arms, I tried the alarm still work if you didn't put your seat belt on.

Thanks God, I dont' need to worry the stupid arm will shoot out one day anymore.

I just bought my car last week and noticed this gadget. It wasn't pushing my driver seatbelt and the butler arm was broken on my passenger. There is a lot of great information on this forum. Just pulled out the fuse and inserted the broken butler inside the passenger and much better now. I've never had this feature so it's something I will not miss since this is my first BMW.

so older G37s have this little extension arm to make it easier to reach the seatbelt. Anyone figured out how make one work on a e92 coupe?

After removing fuse #25 on my 2009 E92 I got the following codes with a scan by my Carly App.

seat belt passenger Code: 009CD5

seat belt driver Code: 009CD4

Later I found that the seat belt butlers could be disabled using the coding feature in the Carly App.

I put back the #25 fuse and disabled the handover using 'not active' selection from these options:

Seatbelt Hand-Over
• active
• not active
Automatic seatbelt hand-over is active/inactive. (codable in FRM)

Seatbelt Hand-Over driver
• active
• not active
Automatic seatbelt hand-over for driver is active/inactive. (codable in FRM)

Seatbelt Hand-Over passenger
• active
• not active
Automatic seatbelt hand-over for passenger is active/inactive. (codable in FRM)

I get no more error codes and now neither my passenger(s), nor I am bothered by the seat belt butlers!
