Aftermarket HU in e90
Hello, I have a 2006 BMW 330I w/sports package and logic 7. I recently purchased an Alpine IVA-D106 HU with the PAC SWI-JACK and was hoping to get it installed soon until I ran into a problem! I went to my local car audio shop and asked if they could install my products, and they told me it would run me around $750 for installation since my car uses fiber optics and they would need to re-wire the entire car. I have seen after market HUs installed in the e90's, so I know it is possible, but I am wondering if re-wiring is the only way to install my products or if the company is just bullshitting me!

How come some people say you cant do it with Logic 7? I feel like since BMW changed their whole concepts as far as car audio goes, a lot of confusion has been happening.

People says you can't do it, bacause they don't consider rewiring the car an option,...... and they are right any time you talk about "upgrading" speakers/amp/HU...

Hmm, and if I have fiber optics, then that means I ahve logic 7 correct? If so, is it worth it to upgrade my HU or should I just return the HU and upgrade my speakers?

I haven't looked into that yet, but the whole reason for upgrading HU is because I enjoy the touch screen vs an analog, as well as having an Ipod, Nav, dvd player all in one feature so less cords are visible.
I say $750 is a lot for an installation, because my previous ones have been around $400 and when I called this company to get a quote on a Viper 7900 Installation in my pervious car ( 2005 yukon) they said around $900, and I found other places willing to do it for $600. |
