I know, looks a bit flash really doesn't it, they're listed as my signature but for some reason they're now listed at the side. Might delete them from my garage.

2 day job!!. I was asked if I would like to wait whilst the work was done!!. Better take my sleeping bag with me! Lol.

Anyway, seems that others have been hit and miss with this 'recall'. Seems vey strange and inconsistent of BMW. Unless as suggested above certain part numbers have been targeted. The guy from Synter defently stated to me that it was a recall on my vehicle. Stranger still that they have contacted me when I have reported no problems with the car!??.

All will be revealed tomorrow when it goes in.

Don't mistake that this is a vehicle "recall" per se via DVLA records as it most probably isn't.

It sounds to me that the recall that hit North America for the HPFP is being checked here in the UK as well. It's worth asking, as they are now providing a 160K mile/10 year warranty for the HPFP, injectors and related hardware for North American x35i vehicles.

Mike, + All interested parties.

Below is the "official" BMW statement extracted from e-mail sent to me.

Will clarify who is affected, I hope their name for the "recall" ammuses you as much as it did me !!

"There is a “quality enhancement” that has been released for N53 / N54 vehicles which is chassis specific between the dates of 01/01/07 – 31/10/08.

These vehicles will have all their injectors removed and checked with a hand held scanner which will indicate if the injectors need replacing. Therefore some vehicles may have one or two replaced, others may have all six and possible a few will have none. The scanner reads the small square dot matrix on the injector and is connected to a BMW (ASAP) website which will highlight good or bad injector batch numbers. From this we are authorized to replace whatever is needed regardless of warranty / fault code status".

Hope this is helpful.

Best wishes,

Michael.

As I understand it, you should be getting a call or letter from your supplying dealer.

Some have already contacted their customers, some are slow !

Presumably if you purchased it privately, they expect you to know about it and contact them !

this collates with what I have been told from the dealer today. I took the car in and specifically asked what the issue with the vehicle was. The service advisor went onto the BMW system and entered my chassis number, and clicked on a tab labelled 'recalls'.

The was 1 item listed and the only detail was text stating 'check injectors and replace if necessary'. I am assuming that the technician performing the work will have had more detail.

the result is that I require 6 new injectors. I was told that I Was the first thet has been contacted by the garage to have the work competed. the frustrating part is that they had no injectors in stock, and the system is showing that they are on back order, there fore I am booked in again for 2 weeks time to have them replaced!

would have been nice of them to have least have some on stock before they called me in!.

Very strange.

I've contacted my local dealer (Williams Rochdale) and they say that my car needs to be looked at too (for injectors), so its booked in now on the 11th of july as they didn't have a loan car before that.

I am a little scepticle about this visit as I haven't had any problem with the car at all after doing around 4k miles since I bought it at 38k and thinking about not going as I've heard horror stories of cars going into the dealership with small issues and come out with lot more.

Another thing which I am quite surpried about is that when I bought this car I asked the sales guy if any work regarding HPFP or injectors been done to this car and he said NO, just only rear wheel bearing thats it (which in all honesty I didn't believe) So while booking my car in yesterday due to this recall I asked the service guy to check if this sort of work (HPFP,Injectors) has been done to my car in the past and he confirmed that no such work has been done on my car ever.

So what do you guys think ? Shall I go there and have the car checked or just skip this visit as I believe there is no problem with the car.

Another thing. Has it become a norm to charge insurance for a loan car ? although its only £15+VAT but does sound a like another money making scam when your car is at the dealership because of recall not for servicing.

I feel you have to drop it off. Knowing BMW if you didn't and something did go wrong with the car they'd blame the fact you hadn't done the recall. Also, when you come to part ex they'll ask if the recall was done.

This is the scum bag stealers decision not BMW.

Its a money making scam since the cars are all covered under a fleet policy anyway.

Go and get it done, especially as your dealer has notified you. There really isnt anything to be concerned about.

Also, unless you have access to the cars ECU you really dont know if there is anything wrong.......The engine management is so clever it masks some problems by compensating/adjusting other things.

Get her in toute suite.
