New 335d owner

Just picked up my CPO 335d. 2009 space gray, sport package. Had a few questions for all the knowledgeable 335d owners here. The car has 27k miles on it, are there any maintenance concerns I should look out for at certain mileages? (For example on my last car, a e46 330, they recommended replacing all the plastic cooling system components at 80k miles)

Only had the car for 2 days and am loving the balance of performance and mpg!

I'll post some pictures when I get the chance. Thank you and I look forward to learning more about my car in this forum!

Welcome to the d club!

Here are some basics...Service Checklist

Others will chime in, but these are the first that come to mind...
  • DEF...the only real difference in scheduled maintenance from the other e90s would be the DEF which most top off at every oil change.
  • To additive or not to additive...You always have the fuel additive argument that you can read up on as you share our low-lubricity low-cetane US diesel fuel.
  • JBD...Other than that, a JBD should be added after each dealer visit and removed just prior. Repeat until warranty expires then keep installed or go reflash. ;-)

I've noticed a general lack of attention to lubricating the runners on the sunroof mechanical system. My experience has been that every sunroof I've ever owned has broken, the last from lack of maintenance - Mercedes had a footnote somewhere in their manual to lubricate it every so and so miles etc.

Very nice. I've been contemplating a CPO'd 335d as well. I'm really puzzled as to why there are so many brand new untitled 335d models still at dealerships (40-ish).....anybody have a theory?

I do have a theory. The typical Americans just doesn't get it about Diesels. Plus the legacy from the GM/Olds diesel debacle plus the old Mercedes turbodiesels that left a black smoke screen behind them is hard to overcome. Unless your racing or on the track, to me the diesel is perfectly suited for the type of driving we typically do. So many times I point to my tail pipes showing people how much cleaner they are then their spark ignition engines.

My understanding is there will be a large BMW Diesel selection within the next year or so with up to 2 different 4 cylinder models and a more powerful 6 cyl diesel. They will be installed in almost all models, including a 7 series. Smaller cars will have smaller engines.

BMW needs to do this to meet the upcoming CAFE standards, as do most other companies unless the majority of their business is small cars.

@Puerto
I have to correct you there....the F3x 330d and 335d is an inline 6 cylinder and available in the European market as we speak :-)
If it will be available in the US, I can't say.

Hehehe. What is it with the US market and Diesel engines?
You don't get the good ones.....To be honest the 4 cylinder BMW diesel sounds like any other diesel. But the 6 cylinder....mmmmm.....that turbine sound...really smooth....and the power....As you prop. know you can easily get addicted :-)

The new I6's are now the N57 IIRC. Don't think the m57 will be used past current generation

^ +1, but I would be happy just knowing we would be getting ANY mid to small diesel car smaller than the 5 with as much or more power/potential as our beloved 335d (stateside). I love this vehicle, but eventually will need to replace it.

I'd take the old m57 shoved into an F-gen 3er, but I would definitely prefer N57 twin turbo or the M50d's tri-turbo setup (not sure of the engine designator). If only...

I call dibs on the M350d, if they ever release one, AND bring it to the states...I read somewhere that the new M550d tri-turbo powerplant can be "shoehorned" into the F30. What a rocket that 3er would be.
