06 professional HU in an 09

I bought a used 335i that came with an aftermarket headunit. OEM radio is long gone, I want to so some coding and I want to be able to go to dealer for some updates.

I bought an oem professional headunit came from an 06 HIFI, can I code it to work or do I need an 09 head unit?

I have installed 06 headunit and radio, cd and sound work, however PDC, door chimes and any other car sounds do not work.

I have a cable and INPA kinda working (I coded out active headrests successfully) Where can I go from here?

My goal: Relocate HU to trunk and use aftermarket headunit 90% of the time, have PDC & Door chimes to work.

I do not have SOS or Assist.

I believe those sounds come through the OEM amp.

I believe those sounds come through the OEM amp.
(at least pdc does) If you have it had a Hi Fi or Logic 7 amp that is not there
any more it might explain it.

might be a solution in the above link.

Everything is back to stock. THe headunit is out of an 06 which I assume is the problem. But the HIFI amp is back in place where it should be. I do have aftermarke speakers but I can't imagine that would be the issue as they work great for music. I understand the PDC sound changed from earlier to later. Buzzer to chime. I am trying to hunt down somebody local with an 09 so I can try their headunit and see if anything changes.

Seperatly if I run a acc power source to pin 13 while running an aftermarket headunit will my radio reception be better?

I assume that if the headunit was coded to Logic 7 it would not work at all with the HiFi amp? Is the PDC a seperate module? or tied into the headunit? Is there a chance that the headunit is not coded for PDC? I have attempted to post in coding but have not had much response.

diagrams for HiFi versus logic 7

as you can see there is a fiber optic connection for audio in the L7 this however does not mean that the most bus has no connection to other thing like pdc and bmw assist with a hi fi configuration.

I used the second link to reinstall the stereo back to OEM. The radio works all music comes out the correct speakers but car sounds like door open and key in ignition do not work.

I know my car came with Hifi stereo because of the Vin, it also did not come with BMW assist or SOS.

I know what system I have, or at least what system was there when the car came out of the factory, I am trying to get it back to where it was out of the factory.

The above links I have read 10 times over. However the bottom link is new and may have some very helpful information.

I seem to have everything hooked up correctly, but am missing the car sounds. I do not have a speaker under the driver side dash, buy my understanding is 09 all sounds come through the speakers running through the Hifi amp.

That speaker is apparently a backup ASSIST speaker in case the MOST link is severed in an accident, and if your car came without ASSIST it wouldn't have the speaker.

With my 07 with HiFi and Assist, the chimes came through the head unit going to the amp. I don't think it's a coding thing, I think it's a HU change. I know when using the Mobridge DA1 early on, later E90's would lose chimes even though early ones would not.

Okay, so... next thought is ebay has a 2012 OEM professional headunit that has bluetooth and sirius built in. Can I buy that and install into my 09 car? And gain bluetooth more or less plug and play? I assume I will have to go into ncsexpert and code bluetooth active.

But the radio part and car sounds would be plug and play?

The headunits all seem the same on the outside but it seems prior to 07 and post 2010 the have differences?

My final goal is to have: radio, cd, Bluetooth for handsfree phone, car chimes and dings, dealership updates.
Two paths
1: Aftermarket Kenwood DNX8120 with 2006 OEM headunit located in trunk (I already own both of these)
2: 2012 OEM professional headunit with bluetooth and sirius built in. $350 on ebay.

FYI

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-professi...8e553c&vxp=mtr

You have to do some programming to make the newer units work in an older car the details of which I am not to sure . The one above has USB and I think all the ones after 09 have HD Radio . But installing them in an older car is not a clear process.

Some of the units on Ebay don't have a Most Bus connection which you need in a older US car.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=687463

There is something in here about having to change the production
date of the car to install, because of software issues, then changing it back.

You can't do A2DP music streaming without the combo box to my
understanding also.

I think I would try to get it working on your original path .
Have you tried reading your rad settings with the cable?
If you have made a copy of the cars programming then i would
search for pdc in that file. I not sure if pdc has its own module.
Also if you do a Vin readout what options show up as being there?
Compare it to the option list on the coding board.

I have an 09 radio in my 06 and everything works fine. I am looking for an 10 or newer with built in HD and will be selling my 09 one when I do if you are interested.

Get a copy of the 2URAD module file

Get a copy of the 2URAD module file
and see whats in it.
If you did the programming readout steps as in the coding board you should
have should have go a page that displays all the options in line.

mine starts out with KOMBI , TCUM, IHK etc, etc
one of the modules is 2URAD make a copy of that an look inside it to see
whats turned on in the radio . Also since you have PDC I would be looking for a module file that describes that, make a copy and look inside it.
