I was talking about center to center measurements between inlet and outlet of the intercooler.

Here's where to place the zip ties:

I secured the zip ties around this plastic edge, which is left after you've trimmed the plastic shroud away:

And I placed a pipe with a diameter of ~30 mm between the IC and the plastic edge just to get the IC in the right hight and to make the plastic edge a little more stable (you can see the blue pipe on this picture):

The bottom is secured by the piping it self.

The IC haven't moved at all since the install.

I hope this helps.

cool pics... it looks like the car is smiling with braces now.

I'll probably do this later this year. I wonder how much efficiency is lost to spray paint or airbrush it black.

dont think u can buy it in states, only cx but its smaller and Big Toms IC has thicker core.

CX Racing = 45.7 X 30.5 X 8.9 = 12405 cm3

Big Tom FMIC = 45.7 X 30.5 X 10.2 = 14217 cm3

That one will not fit, it's way to wide.
Trust me, the BTIC is the biggest IC that will fit a 335i.

BT,
It looks like dimensions are being taken two different ways here. There IC that is highlighted above has a total width of the 24", but the core width is 18".

Ok. In that case it will fit.
That's actually the "standard" CX Racing-size.

Do a search on eBay for "godpeed v-mount" or "v-mount rx7 intercooler" and you'll come up with an intercooler with almost exactly the same dimensions as the big Tom FMIC, except with a 3.5" core instead of a 4" core. I bought mine off of eBay from a company called "carbon innovations" based out of CA, and after several offers and counter offers, eventually I picked it up for $115!!! It was $40 for shipping, and on my door step in 3 days!! All the piping came from allpurposepipes, and ran around $115 shipped. It's been installed on my car for about a month now, and I'm loving it!!! Especially the $290 to my door for everything price. :0)
