Music was put on afterwards, together with a bit of editting to get rid of the sections where the passengers were chatting. I also had to turn the volume of the engine up a bit... these BMWs are just too refined.

The Southern 100 is held at the start of July, the TT races having been held at the start of June. It does however attract a lot of the big road racing names from around the UK and Ireland. Most of the Dunlop family were there, Ian Lougher, Guy Martin and Chris Palmer to name a few. Klaus Klaffenbach (multi-time sidecar world champ) also managed some time off from his World Superbike team to bag a couple of seconds. Weather was good for the most part and Nick Crowe / Daniel Sayle came within a few tenths of the 1st 100mph average sidecar lap.

Personally I would not go near the island in my car around the TT. Some 18000 bikes descended on the island this year, you may be fast Carlos, but not that fast! One day... but not with the BMW. The hire car companies shut down and don't hire anything for the TT fortnight as well.

Also, the TT is the greatest time trial in the world. Riders set off at 10 second intervals to cover the 37.75mile course, so it's only about every 18 minutes that you see the same bike. The Southern has massed starts and the lap only takes just over 2 minutes if you're Ian Lougher on a 1000cc bike. So you get a bit more action.

Next years races are on the 7th - 10th July 2008. I plan on being there.
