radar jammer?

i understand that their are few radar detectors that have radar jammers but is this actually true, from what i understand a radar jammer throws off the cops radar to a much lower speed than what you are doing just in case you dont have that 5-10 second window to start slowing down, is this true, has it been tested by anyone.Iam not intending to drive like an idiot and just slow down whenever i hear a beep beep beep,I just know that my car attracts cops like crazy and its been proven because when i got pulled over the cop told me " you stuck out their bud...............now gimme ur license big man".

If it is true than... Visa meet mr Valentine.

If the USA is anything like the UK then radar detectors are legal where as radar jammers are illegal. The jammers are usually mouted in the front grill (as this is the place the police usually point the radar gun at) however if the police suspect their signal has been jammed your car can be stopped and searched. If they find a jammer your f***ed! Propably a lot of points on your licence or worse still a ban.

The US is different than UK. I am not sure if Valentine 1 has radar jammer, I think it does not. But, there are radar jammers out there. They are not illegal in VA, while radar detectors are. Makes sense, right?

Radar jammers are illegal nationwide (USA). They are a violation of FCC regulations and thats federal.

Laser is not covered by the FCC. Its actually under the jurisdiction of the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). FDA has no nationwide regulations related to jamming laser, nor does it appear they have any in the works. A few states took the initiative to pass their own laser jammer laws.

This is 100% correct.

The following states have laws prohibiting lidar jamming: Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC. And these laws don't just prohibit lidar jamming either. The laws state that no motorist shall use any kind of device that interferes with the operation of *any* speed measuring device, so this not only covers lidar jammers but license plate covers as well. It even covers speed measuring devices that haven't been invented yet.

Radar jammers are illegal in the US.

You can purchase laser jammers like the Lidatek LE-30. I had one on my B5 S4. But I live in a state (PA) where the cops don't use laser to catch speeders... yet. So I decided not to install one on my 335i.

State cops in PA use radar... local cops here use vascar type speed traps.

State cops in other states like Ohio use laser.

A V1 and laser jammer will protect your in almost every case. The trick with a Laser Jammer is to shut it down when it indicates a signal. Laser is short range and line of sight so when the jammer goes off you lift and hit the toggle to shut the jammer down. Laser detectors are worthless, if it goes off ... your already busted.

This will give you the time you need to slow down. Ripping by a COP with your jammer on will get you pulled over.

Yes Laser Jammers are illegal in Cali. It's an infraction unless you have more than 4 units. Al least that's the law I have seen posted on the Laser forums and other BMW forums.

Here's the thing when it comes to using laser jammers and the primary thing is use common sense. If traffic is very light and you get hit with laser turn the damn thing off immediately after you slow down. But in moderate traffic if the cop sees that he's not able to get a reading off you he will quickly move on to the next vehicle.

Get yourself a V1 and some Dual Front Laser Interceptors and call it a day. Works good for me, and they are legal.

Keep in mind the laser jammers are legal in Florida, don't know about other states.

Also, make sure and shut them off once you get your speed down a bit. I usually hit the brakes and then flip it off. If you just lift off the throttle you wont slow down fast enough.

Exclamation

Active radar jammers (some of which actually did work on certain older radar units) are illegal.
The passive units still sold (ie Rocky Mountain Radar and others) are legal because...THEY DON'T DO SQUAT!

BMW might as well bring the 316i over here because at this rate anything more than 100hp is gonna get us in trouble with the law.

Wrong!!!! They do work. They work by reducing the amount of $$ in your wallet.

I met one of the wingnuts from RMR several years ago at CES. That was when the world still wondered if they really invented something that worked. 2 minutes talking to this dude and I knew it was a total scam. Why they weren't indicted by the FTC is beyond me!

I'd still like to find a good place in the Denver area that can install the 9500ci. It seems promising.
