CBS Oil change ... Annual?
My E39 (and the E46) had a simplified version of Condition Based Service, BUT the mileage required (typically 15-16.5K) was overridden by a BMW maintenance requirement to change the oil annually, regardless of service indicator or mileage.
Is this no longer true for E9x? My CBS is indicating about 19K total miles till the first oil change (miles to go + odometer), which will occur around 19 months total service. I was hoping to have 3-4 oil changes on BMW's nickel, with a change at my cost in between theirs (conservative I know). |

There is no change from the E46, so you should get your 4 free changes if you time things correctly.
For some reason, the US computers are programmed for a two year, rather than one year low mileage oil change interval, but your Service/Warranty manual should indicate the one year maximum time interval. Also for the "Interim" change on your dime, my dealer now routinely offers $79.95 coupons for the oil service - see if yours does something similar. Tom |
