Question Help Needed: MHD Log

Thanks in advance for any valuable inputs!!

Been running MHD stage one since I got my 2010 E89 Z4 last year. Here is the problems I encountered and potential solutions I have found on the internet.

- Currently 75k km and using 1+ ACN91 map with CAD94 fuel (yes, Canada has very crappy fuel so I am being conservative)
- Had misfire issue on cylinder 4, decided swap all spark plugs with NGK ones (gapped .022) and coils replaced with Delphi ones.
- Have been having timing issues accross all cylinders under WOT, issue persisted after swapping new sparks and coils. Tried adding octane booster but no luck (been using Canada's chevron 94)
- Another weird issue is the throttle position goes low as 30 when under WOT.
- Occasionally encounter over boost issue with following codes: 30FE Turbocharger, charge-air pressure too high. And 3100: Boost pressure control, deactivation. Seemed to fix the problem when Im running 1+ ACN91 map

I'm no log expert but just a couple quick questions. Ever done a walnut blast?
Are you using oem intercooler or aftermarket?
Stock dv or aftermarket?
In your log the low pressure fuel pump shows zero. See if you can log that next time.

Walnut Blast is on the list. Still looking for a reputable shop in Vancouver.
I think the previous owner upgraded it. Its definite a lot bigger than stocks 5" fmic. And I don't notice any heat soak problem after multiple pulls.
It is to my understanding that e89 does not have aLPFP.

Just had a look at the last log, you've got a lot of timing corrections, and your IAT's spiking to over 60+ degrees C, that's not good. The current FMIC doesn't look like it's upto the job. Have you changed your plugs and coils recently?

Log shows 93oct map, are you actually using 93oct fuel or acn91?

I agree the IAT climb high fast. This is most likely the cause of the timing corrections. Walnut blast will help also.
Your current fmic may be dented up or just a crappy one.
For what it's worth I run the 93 map in Canada with 94 petrocan/chevron or husky.
See if ARM makes a intercooler for your car. They are pretty good for the price as well.

Last log is not the most recent. I guess I didnt realize that IAT climbs fast on that specific log. If you look at the first two IAT only raised a bit. Thanks for catching it!

Thanks! I'm gonna check out FMIC options. I recently found out that DI engines actually likes some ethanol content. I been trying to avoid ethanol at all cost and turned out I'm wrong😂😂.

Only raised a bit?

First and second logs show IAT's reaching 70+ degrees C, plus loads of minor timing corrections probably due to the poor fuel quality.

Timing corrections can also be due to your plugs and coils, it they haven't been changed recently.

LOL you are totally right. I logged like crazy that day and didn't realize the one I uploaded is different one. Thanks for pointing that out 🤓.

Sparks and coils were changed before these logs.

Can anyone comment on the over boost on the log?

Try a different map v7.1 and see if you still get overboosting. It looks like those throttle closures are possibly due to DME trying to reduce boost due to overboosting.

Could also be your boost solenoids causing the issue.

Flashed 7.1 today. Car definitely feels more responsive under WOT. I am pretty sure throttle closure isn't as bad on 7.1...Wondering why..

Boost solenoids are on their way. Will report back if that does indeed fix my over boost issue.

Log will also be provided! Thanks for everyone's help!

I also love V7.
9 is great too but is more Linear compared to 7.1. Even if v9 technically makes slightly more power, the butt dyno likes 7 better lol.

Also a great idea to replace all vacuum lines when installing boost Solenoids (if you haven't replaced them already).

So.... Did another log and the throttle closure problem came back and I could feel it too. Feels like loss of power while WOT and after a few seconds you feel a surge of torque.

Check the v bands on your downpipes. If it can't regulate boost with the waste gates, it uses the throttle. Waste gates are probably stuck closed.

That's a huge throttle closure! no wonder you felt loss of power.

Worst case, your wastegates stuck closed as Dave said, or not closing and opening properly.

If it is the wastegates getting stuck, Does adjusting the wastegates manually help with this issue?

I was told it was a Turbo out, wastegates rebuild job at yhe very least or turbos had to be replaced?

I meant more like the waste gate is getting stuck on the v-band.

I have heard of the waste gates arms getting caught on the v band clamps if they are not positioned correctly. This would be good to Check.
Maybe you boost solenoids are toast and not operating the waste gates properly too.
They can act pretty goofy and inconsistent when they crap out.

Update:

I have just replaced both boost solenoids. Overboost problem seemed to be gone now!! As well as the noise coming from (perhaps wastegate?) when under light acceleration and light decel, is also gone now!!

I will provide more logs once my FMIC is installed to see if the timing issue still persists.

Thanks for everyone's help!!

Awesome glad to hear it! I should do mine too but they haven't caused me issues yet.

Once you have your intercooler installed, you could also try a map that's not Acn. I live in Alberta and I have good luck with the 94 husky gas and the MHD 93 oct maps.
