anyone had issues with their style 230 wheels? i've had 3 flats in two weeks!

unreal. my wife is either unlucky or hitting every pothole, etc in creation.

literally, 3 flats in two weeks, all on the same exact wheel, the right front. ironically, one really wasn't her fault as some road debris flew into her and even damaged the wheel, which had to be replaced. i am getting the sides splitting, not nails or anything.

i am running dunlop sp sport maxx on them. anyone have any other tire recommendation, or do i need to go back to the 18s or even 17s for her?

i love the look of the 230s, and they handle and feel much better than the 18" stock sport wheels.

thoughts???

I think we'll stay away from Dunlop from now on! I've had nothing but bad experience with them. BTW, I really like the 230s!

No, after all the cars i've owned, i've never needed the tire insurance. it's usually such a waste of $ becuase they only pay based on tread left, so even if you get a flat halfway thru the tire's life, half a tire = the cost of the insurance, so it's never paid off. again, this is the weirest thing i've ever seen, and i feel like the tires have been defective. these are the first and last set of dunlops i'll own. i think i'll be writing bmw and dunlop on this one.

my concern with bmw, is that i would rather have a jack and space saver wheel with the vehicle. i know it's designed for rft's, but they are hard as a rock and loud when they wear. i much prefer non rft's. i had a spare wheel with my, but to my dismay, they never even put a jack in these cars. the second incident my wife had tore the tire AND wheel. what then with a RFT? cant drive on a damaged wheel. i need to buy the jack from the bmw parts dept and check on the price of a donut wheel.

after doing some research, it looks like the bridgestone potenza re050a rft's are the only bmw oem approved 19" tire for those oem wheels. i think i'll sell the dunlops and get the potenzas. i run them on my porsche, and they've been great. i really think the tires are the reason for flats. anyone want some dunlops? they are probably fine for most, but not for my wife apparently. :-)

I have not had any issues. I also beleive the BMW tire warranty replaces the rubber and is NOT depended of tire wear. Therefore you can wear out the tire and then get the tire replaced without any additional cost.

No problems on mine so far. Using Michelin PS2s non RFTS. Worried about getting a flat, but really wanted wider tires.

To the OP, I would put on the RunFlats if you seem to keep getting flats. Thats what they are designed for!
