E90 330d leaking diesel
Hi all,
Came home from work today and noticed a small wet patch just in front of the rear wheel under the fuel tank... Defo diesel as put my finger in it and it stinks! Has anyone else had this problem? Obviously a leak somewhere but wondered if it a common issue with a pipe that fails etc.... Also the tank is brimmed right to the top at the moment so maybe that makes a difference? Look forward to hearing from anyone that can help. Cheers Matt |

I wouldn't panic just yet. If you have a really full tank it will leak. It is likely you filled it when the temperature was 10C or more less than today. Fuel will expand when warm, hence leak.

Appreciate what you are saying however surely it would leak from the fuel cap rather than from underneath the car if the fuel expands? Seems to be a lot of info on the net regarding the breather pipe corroding. Pretty shocking really , surely that should be a recall for safety purposes? |

Was gonna post exactly the same thing last week. Filled up my tank, parked and 10 mins later a neighbour knocked and said I was leaking diesel. Took it over the missus's house, parked it and it was fine. I put it down to a breather/overflow pipe.
Mine was leaking from just in front of the wheel also. |

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161065 edit - just realised there was actually no conclusion posted . I got the dealer to replace the breather pipe FOC (I guess under warranty). Simple solution would be to not 'brim' your fuel tank as it only occurs when it's full.
