waste gate warranty?
In North America, they extended the warranty of the wastegate to 8 years. For the N54 of course.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...9#post12157939 I don't understand why Hong Kong BMW's are not affected by BMW NA's recall's. I had called the service center previously and they told me the wastegate issues only affected NA BMW's and not Bmw's. Aren't our part numbers the same? My wastegate/s have been a total PITA. I don't think its fair that the cars came out of the same factory with the same part numbers and yet we get the short end of the stick. Update: I've emailed BMW corporate hoping that they can clarify Just got an update. BMW HQ had gotten back to me regarding this issue. They have gotten somebody from BMW HKG to specifically handle this case, they seem to be much more involved now. They say that the recall affects cars worldwide depending if it is in the affected VIN number. Thats much better clarification as they were giving me misleading information previously. At least we know that BMW HQ does stand behind their cars. I'm actually suprised that none of you have responded haha. i would think some other bro's would be interested in this or they already knew and didn't tell me =( Last edited by scflaw; 06-21-2012 at 11:19 PM.. |

A good lesson for you (if this is something new ). BMWHK is just a distributor and service center here, but don't consider they can really represent BMG AG and get the same level of expertise and knowledge.
As a BMW owner, BMW AG is the way to go. Nowadays an email costs almost nothing. I once made a complaint all the way to Germany to have someone back here to pay attention to my issue. Yap, it is absolutely frustrated but this is the way to work out.

because they only know a little of BMW cars... simple, do they drive BMW? Not necessarily a yes... unless you got to know the engineers behind.

Manager called me directly and expressed interest in resolving the matter. Pleasant bloke, very nice and helpful. I guess as with any other industry, the less appreciated employee's are not always the best representation in regards to the company. Need to find a time to drop off the car and hope this gets resolved. Wastegate issues driving me nuts, 335 is now a 330 with increased backpressure (no offense to 330 owners =P, car does sound way more aggresive though haha )

getting the same run around here in Canada. Service advisors's pretending they have never even heard of a wastegate rattle and it would not be covered. Doesn't surprise me.
Who did you contact at BMW AG? Off the bmw internationalsite?? |

This rarely happens in Canada. Try another dealership, or organize a case. Your situtation would not be the same as mine because there are no associated engine code in conjunction with your issue. Try to be civil and bring in BMW NA's recall on the wastegate issue SI B01 01 12. If they deny it, bring it to a manager because the grunts don't really give a shit about their job or the brand.
