I may have an issue with my water pump on my 06' 325i. TDB. If I do have to replace it can I have it rebuilt? I ask because I am used to a more vintage scene than my e90 and we rebuild EVERYTHING.
Cost savings as well as some unobtanium parts that leave you with no choice, or the choice is made in china and breaks something else in the car just by placing it under the lid
A water pump does not seam like an item that would be so complicated as to not be able to replace some bearings, seals, and diaphragms. Thoughts?

Most of the water pump failures with the 2006 E90s are due to electrical failures not mechanical ones. The pump is electrically driven and the electronics go out due to engine heat.

Once you replace the water pump, is the problem gone for good or is this always an ongoing issue for 06 e90s?

That's what I'm currently trying to determine. I have a post today on the E90 board which is attempting to determine if BMW has corrected their initial design deficiency that is causing early pump failures and offering an improved re engineered pump which has corrected the electronics overheating issues. I've heard a rumor that a new improved pump is available, but do not know how to tell if I bought a new pump that it is indeed a newer model pump or an older design pump that is still sitting unsold on their shelf.

I saw that post. I would be VERY interested in that bit of info as well. If I do replace the pump I would want a "new and improved!" unit if I have the option. Thanks Brad.
