Good shop in Ohio to replace turbos?
My 335i's turbo wastegates are shot. I know the warranty has been extended...but I am facing the "pay to un-mod and then only have a 50/50 shot at getting it covered" dilemma.
So, if I end up paying to have it done...I know the price for the turbos isn't bad. (633 a piece on tisher) It's the labor that's killing me. I've been told the book rate on this job is something like 16 hours Yet, I've also seen where some knowledgeable techs can do it in far less time, by dropping the motor onto a table beneath the car. Does anyone know who I might try contacting for a decent labor quote? |

Try Koala Motorsport in Novelty: (440) 564 7574. I used them to install a couple of mods in my now-deceased E92 as well as maintenance on my old E30. They only work on BMWs and Minis, and they offer loaner cars (older models).

Most shops use labor rate which means that if the book states 16 hours that's what you pay no matter how long it takes. I'm not sure I would trust a shop that didn't work that way on our cars. On the plus side an independent shop would have a lower labor rate.

Brett Anderson, the owner, used to be a master tech at a dealer and is extremely talented. I wouldn't hesitate to go to him for this or any job on a BMW. Neil |
