Carbon Cleaning Pics **Warning - Graphic!**

Seeing as how I was experiencing rough idle and some shuddering when accellerating in high gear from lower RPMs, I decided to get my car carbon blasted before progressing to meth, RBs, and a pro tune from Dzenno@ProTuning Freaks (hopefully next month).

Wow, the difference is really noticeable! Engine runs like clockwork now

Car has 49k and the engine was never cleaned before. I've only been running an OCC for a couple thousand miles and have not seen much collection at all, though there was a fair amount in the stock FMIC when I took it out. I've been FBO AP Stage 2 for about 5k miles and was running Stage 1 for about 10k before that. I purchased the car nearly two years ago as an off-lease CPO with 30k miles on it. Full mods are in my sig

I got the walnut blasting done at a dealership for $550 after tax. They gave me a loaner 2012 328i for the day and a free car wash afterwards

Warning - These pics may be unsuitable for elderly pregnant people with heart conditions. I apologize for the quality as it was the service rep with his phone camera.

Night and day difference. Hoping to get mine done soon as I have almost 70k miles with the valves never being cleaned.

Much better, I think BMW should include this as maintenance once during the factory warranty because these DI motors are so susceptible to carbon build up.

I have an appt next month and am going to ask them to take a look. If there's substantial build up I'm going to attempt to have it done as warranty work. We shouldn't be paying for a maintenance under the 4yr/50k umbrella.

I've seen worse, and I've seen better. Your build-up is average--trust me--it can get worse. It looks like cleaner needs to do another round of cleaning on the after pics.

If you think this is covered that's hilarious. Whats even more funny is that you think this is maintenance. BMW will laugh at you. Good luck tho.
Tell them your car burns too much gas too when flooring it. Maybe they will cover your gas.

I didn't say its covered but yes I think it should be, just my opinion. Anyways, I've read of someone here getting it done as warranty work. Couldn't hurt to try right? I am a pretty good talker so we'll see.

Hey, glad to see someone else from the area on the forums, from Cortland myself.

I agree 100%. I have seen much worse and it definitely needs another round of blasting in those after pics. There's still some build up in there that should be cleaned out.
