jb4 map 2 with only DCI

hello. i've seen a few people have threads asking if its alright to run the jb4 on map 2 with only DCI. some people say yes others say no. no one really has said what the negatives would be in terms of longevity. is it just bad for the turbos? or other parts as well? thanks

EDIT i use shell v-power 93 octane

DCI really does absolutely nothing.... so your car is basically stock with it.

Unless you can at least get higher than 91, don't do it

you gotta pay to play

I would say stick to map 1. As the guy above me said you gotta pay to play. My car is FBO minus meth and even my map 2 logs sometimes have bad timing and I run 93 all the time...

You must log your car to see how it is responding.

Nobody can answer with 100% assurance as every car and conditions are different.

A long term effect if it is too aggressive is riding the knock sensor. It is likely too aggressive in my opinion without seeing anything.

i have a jb3 and DCI and i use map 7 which i believe is equivalent to the jb4 map 2. i also only use shell v-power and the car seems to be fine. it pulls like a train. i have also wondered this though. is this just causing premature wear on the turbos? or other parts as well. i'm not sure. since I'm getting the single turbo when my turbos blow i didnt care about running a high map but if i'm going to be screwing other shit up i will go down to map 5 which is like map 1 for your jb4.

Youll be fine on map 2 but I would just tell you to run map 5 anyway. Its faster and will adjust accordingly to your setup.

I say run map 5, my car seems to be happy with DCI (which does reduce restriction even if it's slightly) and secondary kitty delete on map 5 running 93.

Garage List
Specifically asked Terry this question. Answer: Its for a stock engine only if its a 335is with 93 or better octane. The IS has a different ignition advance curve than the regular 335i which makes this possible.

Agree on above a CAI engine is still basically stock. Key to map 2 is downpipes.

EDIT: with 93 octane on a stock motor I would give Map 5 a shot. After it adapts, 3-4 WOT pulls in 3rd gear, it will give you the most you can get out of your setup.

As for guys saying they have had no issues I would go with what the designer says you should do.

whats weird it people seem to make it seem like the car will pull hard on map 1 since its made for it more. but my car on jb3 map 7 pulls soooo hard and i dont seem to have any timing issues?
