E92 320D LCI purchase advice
Hi guys,
I would like to ask you to advice me. Im after a e92 320D LCI. It has a fantastic economy compared to my 325i pre LCI. However, Im worried about the issues that are known for this engine. Specifically the timing chain. Can someone tell me after what mileage I can expect to hit troubles and if it wouldnt be smarter to get the 325D or 320i. Thanks in advance |

If you're 'expecting' issues with an engine, steer well clear.
BMW have fitted a countless number of these engines across several models over many years. The amount of failures related to timing chains is microscopic in comparison. There's guys on here with no 'issues' after 200k miles. |

The timing chain issues were a problem on the 177bhp model, I believe the LCI's had 184? Those are just fine, just for peace of mind get BMW warranty, it don't cost much
The 320d is a fab car, pulls effortlessly and has great economy, I'd choose that any day over a 320i, if it were me, I would rather get a 6 cylinder like a lci 325i/325d or a 330i/330d 320i has a lot of known issues, there is a sticky on this forum about it, i'd steer clear of it
