Sick Sounding Exhaust
Was with a buddy of mine last night who owns a 335d, totally stock. Dude fires it up and it sounds like a beast. He was talking about some "game changing" exhaust system. Has anyone seen this before?:

Isn't this the same thing BMW does with the M5? I agree, a shame. "Game changing exhaust system" actually had me excited for a second...

Lots of manufacturers are playing fake engine sounds over the stereo system for the driver, I dont think anyone is using an external speaker though. I think the stereo solution is a combination of newer engines just not sounding the same as what drivers want, and new construction methods keep a lot of sound out of the cabin.
I remember joking about this for cars like civics and such when I was younger. Something like playing the sound of a big block from your econobox. Keyword being "joking" |

Personally i dont get the hardon everyone has for exhaust noise. I take pride in the fact that my D breezes by on the track almost silently while the gassers whine around in the high rpms.
Going to a nascar event is a whole different story though. 'Merica! |

Wow this thread is hilarious.
I had something like this on my bicycle in the early 80's (twist grip that made motorcycle sounds) LOL!! EDIT: Holy crap here it is LMAO:

You know the exhaust-radio thing is really bizarre when nobody roasted the car for its ///M badge

Oh yes. I was living in Prague the past four months. They really go above and beyond in Europe. Forget about BMW roundels...they literally have fake ///M roundels on the front, back, center caps, and steering wheel, along with the trunk and grille badge.

I completely agree with taibanl, I like that my car is quiet. I haven't heard any of these nonsense noise makers in person, but if they sound like the do in the videos no thank you. Sounds completely fake and "electronic" to me. What a joke.
